Seek Equitable Wheat Market WASHINGTON UPI — The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation urged the Ohio congressional delegation Tuesday to press the Agriculture Department for a more equitable market for soft red winter wheat. Executive vice president Douglas R. Stanfield told the congressmen "we just don’t want you or Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman to forget us.” “The people who grow soft wheat want the same treatment that other wheat growers get— no more, no less.” The federation complained the Agriculture Department program for establishing price supports and setting acreage allotments views soft red and hard winter wheat as the same. However, when wheat is programmed for export, a distinction is made between classes. The federation said soft red has been programmed only intermittently.
