Ralph Fry Funeral Tuesday At Cloverdale

Ralph F. Fry, 70, well known Cloverdale area resident, passed away Saturday night at 11:45 in the Putnam County Hospital following an illness of several weeks. The deceased was born near Brick Chapel on Sept. 24, 1895, the son of William and Loretta Dicks Fry. He was married to Esther Thompson on Jan. 26, 1924 and she is the only survivor. Mr. Fry retired last year after serving as a rural mail carrier for 41 years. He started carrying the mail at Bainbridge and moved to Cloverdale in the early 1980s. He was a veteran of World War I and was a Past Commander and Chaplain of the Hurst-Collins Post. He was also a member of tha Cloverdale Methodist Church, the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge, Cloverdale Eastern Star and all bodies of the Terk Rite in Greencastle. He was secretary of the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge for 37 years. Mr. Fry was a Past Commander and Chaplain of the Cloverdale World War I Barracks, a Past State Chaplain et the Indiana Rural Letter Carriers* Association and was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale with Rev. John Berry in charge. Burial will be In the Brick Chapel Cemetery with military rites at the graveside. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home tonight at 8 o’clock. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Rites Wednesday for Edna Clem Mrs. Edna M. Clem, 81, who resided at 904 East Washington Street, died Sunday morning in the Putnam County Hospital where she had been admitted

Saturday.

Mrs. Clem was the mother of Mrs. John McCullough of this city, and Thelma Morrison of Milton, Indiana. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Walker Funeral Home in Bar-

gersville.

Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home in Bargersville after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Hopkins-Walton Funeral Home here had charge of local arrangements.

Harvey, 710 Terrace Lane, Greencastle, Ind., received a bachelor of arts degree from Earlham College at its 119th commencement exercises June 12. Miss Harvey majored in Family Deputations Program, Methodist Student Movement and the Phoenix Society activities. She is a graduate of Greencastle High School. The Happier Homes Home Demonstration Club will meet Tuesday at 8 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Mable Rowland, 117 West Berry Street.

Traffic Toll 642 Fifteen weekend deaths In Indiana pushed the state’s 1966 traffic fatality toll to at least 642 compared with 593 a year ago. The deaths included a triplefatality accident near Anderson and a double-fatality crashnear Indianapolis.

Sdrority Will Hold Steak Fry The Xi Beta Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold their annual steak fry at Robe Ann Park on Tuesday, June 14, at 6 p.m.. All members are encouraged to be present and to bring their own steak, table service and to wear their costumes from the ways and means project. Three Railroad Unions To Merge CLEVELAND UPI — Plans to merge three railroad operating unions into the industry’s second largest on-train brotherhood were announced Sunday by the heads of three unions. The merger was proposed by H. E. Gilbert, International president of the brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen BLEE; George H. Harris, president of the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen ORCB, and Neil P. Speirs, president of the Switchmen’s Union of North America SUNA. The merged brotherhood would claim a membership of 116,000, second only to the 116,000-member Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen (BRT). The only other large operating union would be the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE).

Wands Williams Hostess To Club The Jefferson Belles Home Demonstration Club met at the home of Wanda Williams Monday night for their June Meeting.

President Joyce McCammack opened the business meeting and all stood to pledge of the flag and recite the club creed. Our song leader, Oressa Bright led us in the song of the month then roll call was taken. Our secretary, Evelyn Goodpaster read the minutes of the May meeting and Treasurer Wanda Williams gave her report. Some money making ideas were discussed for the near future and our July picnic was partially planned. Our business meeting was closed with the club prayer and lesson leaders Wanda Williams and Gypsy Hacker presented two quick and easy dishes which they had prepared for their lesson. Each member was to bring a baby picture which was used as part of our entertainment Matching baby pictures with the right club member wasn’t as easy as it might sound. Game prizes were won by Jackie McCammack and Alice Hacker. Door prize by Carolyn Nichols and the raffle by Alice Hacker.
