RHes Held For Ethel Tustison - Last rites for Mrs. Ethel Tustison, 67, who died Friday in Community Hospital at Indianapolis, were held this afternoon at the Conkle Speedway Home with burial in the Brick Chapel Cemetery. Bom in Putnam County and a former resident of Greencastle, Mrs. Tustison had lived in Indianapolis for the past 23 years. She was a member of the Morton Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, White Cross Guild, Daughters of the Nile, International Study Club, Clinging Vine Homemakers’ Club and the Girls 4-H Club. Survivors, besides her husband, Ross H. Tustison, are a brother, Earl Wa,tson of Greenfield and four nephews.
Candace J. Mace Rites Wednesday Mrs. Candace Jane Mace, 86, of 1552 8. 17th 8L, mother of Hubert Mace, owner of Macs Service, Inc., died Sunday at St Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute. She was a member of the Chapter No. 48 Order of Eastern Star. Other survivors Include one son, William of Terre Haute; two daughters, Mrs. Merle Kern and Mss Ruth Mace both of Terre Haute, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 at the Bedino Peace Chapel in Terre Haute. Rev. Dallas Rissler will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p. m. Tuesday.
Cook Rites At Jordan Church Robert Joshua Cook, 73, farmer and grocer in Jordan, died Sunday in his home at R. R. 1, Poland. He was bom in Owen County, February 16, 1893, the son of Joshua and Josephine Schrorer Cook. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one grandchild. Mr. Cook is survived by his widow, the former Mary Ann Langdon; three daughters, Mrs. Agnes Smith, R. R. 2, Poland, Mrs. Margaret May Slavens, Greencastle; Mrs. Josephine Langdon, Indianapolis; two sons Robert Earl Cook and Rex Keith Cook. R. R. 2, Poland; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Query, of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm. at the Jordan Presbyterian Church, where the body will lie in state one hour before the services.
Rev. Zoder Swafford will be the officiating minister. Interment will be in the Wilkinson Cemetery in Poland. Friends may call at the West and Sons Funeral Home in Spencer at any time.
Cash Funeral At Martinsville Virgil Cash, 75, 359 Morris Street, Martinsville, died at the Veterans Hospital, on Monday at 1:30 p. m. He had been in ill health several months. Mr. Cash was bom in Putnam County on January 12, 1892, the son of Henry and Bessie Rogers Cash. He was married to Loda Fine in 1924. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Verl Cash, Martinsville; one stepson, Amos Fine, R. R. 5, Greencastle; one step-daugh-ter, Mrs. Reba Fouch, Indianapolis; one brother, Frank Cash, Cloverdale; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchil-dren. Three sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Cash was a retired farmer and a member of American Legion Post No. 58 of Greencastle. Funeral services will be held at the Cure and Hensley Funeral Home , in Martinsville on Wednesday at 1:30. Rev. Gilbert McCammack will officiate, burial will be in the Stilesville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p. m. Tuesday.
Personal And Local News The Old Timers Softball League will organize at Robe Ann Park tonight at 6:30. Crescent Club will meet Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Mrs. John Nanovsky. Miss Grace Browning will have the program. The Country Reading Club will meet with Mrs. Clara Schulz Wednesday, June 1st at 2 p.m. Mrs. Lloyd Houck will have the program. Busy Bee Club members please notice that the club will meet with Mrs. Esther Jones in Bloomington Thursday, June 9th instead of June 2nd. Due to a change in plans, Missionary Jack Arthur will be at the New Maysville Baptist Church June 12 instead of June 1 as previously announced. Castle Toppers Home Demonstration Club will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Karen Wood. Mrs. Wood will have the lesson. Please note change of meeting place. Mrs. Elizabeth Shaner, formerly of this city, recently underwent surgery at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She would like to hear from her friends. Her room number is B-362. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rieke of Auburn, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Borden of Roachdale and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lang of St. Louis met Mr. and Mrs. Eric Dieke of Amarillo, Texas, at Kansas City, Mo. for a weekend visit. The regular monthly meeting of the Putnam County Coin Club will be held tonight, at its new location, Greencastle Savings & Loan Building, corner of Washington and Jackson streets. The meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public. The program will feature a 50 lot auction. First-Citizens Bank No. 2 Bowling Team took 7th place at the Woman’s Indiana State Bowling Tournament in Evansville, April 17 th. Members of this team are: Jean Rossok, Joyce Girton, Shirley Whitley, Lila Jones and Kristie Hopkins. Members of this team also placed in singles, doubles and all events.

Quake Reported In US. Capital RICHMOND, Va. UPI — An earthquake, described as small and local, was felt in an area from Washington, D. C., to Richmond early Tuesday. Officials at Georgetown University in Washington reported the tremor measured 4.0 on the Ritcher scale.

Mrs. Donald Kendall Is Hostess To Club
The Marionette Home Demonstration Club met May 24 at the home of Mrs. Donald Kendall. The meeting was opened with the flag salute and Club creed. Mrs. Oscar Irwin gave the history of the song of the month, entitled “He Has the Whole World in His Hands' Eleven members answered roll call with the most interesting person I have met.” Mrs. Joe Anderson and Mrs. Noble Sutherlin were guests. Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given. Mrs. Kenneth Phillips reported on the council meeting. It was voted to have a smorgasboard on Achievement Day. A safety report was given by Mrs. James Mason. Mrs. Donald Kendall gave the lesson “Swedish Embroidery.” Everyone learned to do at least one
design.
Mrs. Roy Shoemaker and Mrs. Cedric Tharp received secret sister gifts. Mrs. Shoemaker also won the door prize. Delicious refreshments were served during the social hour.

Reading Club Is Announced The Greencastle-Putnam County Library will again sponsor a Summer Reading Club. Registration begins June 6. Registration will end on June 22. The Reading Club is open to all children in first five grades. Each child entering the Club must have a library card. Each chih’ may borrow only 8 books at one time. Books may not be returned, to count in the reading club, on the same day on which they were checked out. To receive a reading diploma.
