Dear Editor: How about a Spring Clean up of our community ? Papers are blowing about from the drive-ins, both on the East side of the city limits and South side. The Drive-ins furnish containers but the purchasers do not help out We see junk autos parked about, some on the street. Doesn’t Lady Bird know about it? How about getting them fenced in and flowering shrubs planted. Tes, even some are put on city property, without the consent of the city. Trash trucks haul trash south on Jackson to the city (paid by city) dump, dropping trash here and there and the citizens who live there have to clean it up. The police catch a <ew and make them dean it up but several get by unnoticed. Please all that haul ahow respect for others, use a canvas, old blanket, etc., to cover trash and help to moke our town a cleaner and more beautiful place in which to Mve. You can put trash out and tha city truck will pick it up. Wa are lucky indeed to have Louis Williams supervising and picking up the trash. Thanks for a good job, Louis. Yours, A fellow citizen who likes a dean place.

Lynda 'Loved' By Hollywood WASHINGTON UPI—Singer Eddie Fisher has brought word to the White House that Hollywood “loves Lynda” and, he says he thinks the Johnson’s eldest daughter will marry actor George Hamilton. “They’re very much in love with each other,” Fisher told UPI. “I believe they will get married. They get along so well together. They hit it off.” Fisher, who sat at the same table with Lynda when she was a smash hit at the Academy Award presentations, was a guest at a White House diplomatic reception Wednesday night. The Johnsons greeted him warmly as he came through the receiving line where he told them of how highly regarded Lynda was in Hollywood. So far both Lynda and Hamilton have denied reports that they are engaged to be married but Lynda wears Hamilton’s ring on her wedding ring finger. Mrs. Johnson personified the White House feeling of happiness for Lynda, who has always taken a back seat to lively Luci, when she told Fisher, “she’s so gay and happy.”

iMnagw's Vnw By Janet Staub The world may appear very dreary at times but to liven it up “humor” was spread. Most jokes after being told once usually spread like wildfire and the texts usually change with each telling, too. Way back as far as I can remember different fads in jokes have made their appearance. Morons ware favorites, for example: one moron was carrying a ladder, when asked what he was going to do with it he replied, “Well, I heard drinks were on the house.” Knock-knock jokes came and went. Then came limericks. Elephant jokes came and were around for quite a while. A favorite one was: Why do elephants paint their toenails red? So they can hide in cherry trees. Recently “batman” jokes have been going around. Maybe not just like a joke but more of^ a saying has come in now—^ would you believe. It is added to almost every conversation that teenagers hold. By the Way: Happy Mother’s
Day mothers.

—Red Purge ( Continued from Page 1) shorthand for people—Communist and otherwise—who advocate peaceful coexistence in general and a peaceful settlement in Viet Nam in particular because of the danger a nuclear war could arise from the conflict. The editorial said the new “ ‘anti - party, anti - Socialist’ group was waving ‘red flags’ to oppose the Red flag, and donning the cloak of MarxismLeninism and Mao Tsi-lung’s thinking to oppose MarxismLeninism and Mao Tse-tung’s thinking.” The fact the anti-party group used “Mao Tse-tung’s thinking to oppose . . . Mao Tse-tung’s thinking” seemed to give currency to rumors that the leader, who has not been seen in public since November might be dead or incapacitated. If Mao were to speak publicly, there would be no question of how to interpret his writing.
