That doesn’t interest me right now.” As for the draft, Davis’ succinct comment was: ‘Tve always argued against toe common draft I felt it would hurt me as a coach and in my present capacity I feel it would hurt our league.” Davis, who was named to replace Joe Foss as commissioner just two weeks ago, explained that a common draft would hurt American League chibs since each of toe nine teams would be able to choose only one of toe top 24 players from the college ranks. There are 15 teams in toe NFL. Davis also revealed that a merger between toe rival leagues was “very close" just a year ago. He said that negotiation lasting nearly three months were started in December of 1964. Asked why the merger never came off, Davis replied: "Demands were made that were ridiculous. Our people got fed up wMtx some of those demands. ‘TersonaUy, I had mixed feelings about it. Fm more interested in the solidification at our own league.’ ’

Everett Case on Critical List RALEIGH, N. C. UPI—‘The OM Gray Fox” of the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball, former North Carolina State coach Everett Case, was hospitalized Thursday suffering from “gastro-intestinal hemorrhaging.” Case, 65, who earned the nickname for his canny ability to bring his Wolfpack a win, was admitted to the emergency room eariy Thursday. He was later placed in toe intensive care unit of toe hospital.

His physician, Dr. Wflilam Ginn Jr., said “this is a new complication. He is critically ill.” Case has been suffering from myeloma, a disease of the bone marrow and has been unable to walk since an operation last winter to relieve pressure on bis spinal card. Officials at toe hospital said he was receiving blood transfusions and had been placed hi an oxygen tent. He seemed to be “alert,” a spokesman said. Case came to North Carolina State hi 1946 and resigned after two games had been played in the 1964 season. His total record at toe Raleigh school is 379 wins and only 134 defeats,
