By FRANK PUCKETT JR. SPORTS EDITOR Young and determined seems to be the feeling about the Greencastle High School track team this year and coach Jim MeCanunon, who is in his fourth year as head track coach at the school, is looking forward to an even better season the sparkling 8-2 his crew turned in last year. McCammon lost three graduates last year and just the same as gave up three first in every meet unless the young crew he is developing can come along fast this season. Seniors who graduated were Steve Boswell, who knocked off the quarter mile run in :54.5, Elliott Williams, one of the state’s most talented high jumpers, who cleared Die 6 foot 6% inch marie, and Terry Sheldon, a rough half-mdler who turned in a lot of firsts with a fast tame of 2:2.5. “Though we are young, there’s a lot of talent in this crew and the spirits just great, says McCammon, and we’re going to improve. “We lost our first meet to Linton, but I think that was the trouble— it was our first meet and Linton’s fourth of the season." Linton is one of the toughest teams in the confer Mice this year along with old stand-by

McCammon has six seniors an Ms squad, three of whom Just returned from the injured Bat, John Lancaster, John Phillips, and Craig Hammond. Lancaster is a promising quarter mtiler who McCammon is counting highly on, Phillips was one of the tougher competitors in Greencastle * cross-country season and is another promising one that McCammon hopes whl pull through and become his half-mil er. Phillips has turned in a 2:05 half already this year. Hammond is expected to lead the high jumping since he has already made good the 6-11 bar. George Henry and Tom Scholl are two returning lettermen who have high expectations for the coming season. They both turned in good junior years and McCammon says they should hnprova Mike Blouse, McCammon* sixth senior, has already set his goal for the year—Ron Chadd's mile record of 4:52. Blouse tied the graduate's cross-country school record of 10:29 earlier in the year and now plans to set his own marie in the mile run. McCammon’s s o p h o m ores seem to highlight this year’s efforts if it weren’t for one junior —Raymond Churchill. “This boy is just great,” says McCammon. Churchill fascinated everyone last year by going to the state finals in the 100-yard dash and the broad jump. The odd thing about it was he was only a ISF Submits Their Decision ROME UPI — The international Sports Federation submitted to the International Olympic Committee today their choices on where the 1972 summer and winter games should be held, a move that some IOC members feel is being used as a squeeze play. The federations selected the sites in an unprecedented secret ballot Friday night. There was no indication which cities they picked, although it was expected to be announced—or leak out —later today. In the runping for the summo: game are Munich, Montreal, Madrid and Detroit while Banff, Sapporo, Lahti and Salt Lake City are competing for the honor of hosting the winter

sophomore. Churchill turns the cinders in the 100 with a fast 10:02.5 and leaps 21.9% feet in the broad jump competition. Other juniors on the squad are Dave Moore, Louis Luzar, Ray Churchill, Jim Shonkwiler, Mike Harmless, Charles Wicker, Roger Dean, Dick Moore, Dave Beaman, Tom Slaughter, Tom Walgamuth, Mark Elliott, Bill Ogle, and Mike Troyer. Moore is one of the leading boys who runs the 440 and 880

relay. He suffered a severe spike injury in the Linton meet, but should be back in a week or so. Louie Luzar certainly needs no introduction. He is another sprint boy who is determined to have a great year, along with Churchill, and the team’s number one miler—Jim Shonkwiler. The coach expects about five more sophomores out for practice later this month and plans to add them to his already

tough roster of young frosh and sophs. Sophomores who have already participated in meets are Doug Ling, D. Thomas, Bill Buckles, Craig Barrett, Dallas Clines, Ron Cook, John Mason, Robert New, Pete Norris, Kevin See, and Harold Henry. The latter three boys took part in the Hoosier Relays held at Bloomington earlier in the year. Serving two years as an assistant track coach at Green-

castle, McCammon took over the head coaching duties four years ago and has turned in a sparkling 29-11 overall record. His teams once grabbed a fourth place in the Western Indiana Conference, which is tabbed as a tough position to rate. The Cubs lost the first meet of the season to Linton, hut gained revenge when they racked up Cascade and Brownsburg in a tri-angular meet.

Dick Tiger Confident NEW YORK UPI — Dick Tiger ran through a light workout today and announced he was ready to go 15 rounds if necessary when he defends his world middleweight title Monday night against welter champ Emile Griffith at Madison Square Garden. Tiger was a 2-1 favorite to wipe the welterweight from the Virgin Islands and many are picking him to score a knockout. However, the squat Nigerian seemed content to win in any fashion, including a decision. Griffith, the underdog, was so confident that he predicted the will knock out Tiger. He had his final workout on Friday with two rounds of sparing against Junius Hinton.
