Caapfe Receive Prison Sentences INDIANAPOLIS UPI —Roann used car dealer Lester L. Hughes and his wife, Mary J., were sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday in connection with an interstate auto theft ring which officials said involved more than 200 cars valued at $350,000 or more. Hughes, 53, and Mrs. Hughes, 53, were sentenced by Federal Judge S. Hugh DUhn on their pleas of guilty to one of nine counts of a grand jury indictment charging conspiracy to transport stolen motor vehicles interstate. The Hugheses admitted stealing and disposing of more than 200 cars over a four-year period. They were arrested in Tucson, Aziz., last month, several weeks after the indictments were returned.
Dee For Sinks WASHINGTON UPI — The 160 tenants of the gaudy new Rayburn House office building are going to get sinks for their kitchens, with hot and cold running water and electric garbage disposers. The cost? About $50,000. i The three-room office suites in the $80 million building came
equipped with two bathrooms and a rudimentary kitchen, with refrigerator and connection for a hot plate, but no sink. The plumbing for the sinks was roughed in, however, and the Capitol architect’s office said Thursday they would be connected up later this year.

Writing Poetry For Pay Things Could Be 'Verse'
By ROBERTA ROESCH Rider.
“Poets are people who despise money except what you need for today,” wrote novelist and playwright James M. Barrie. But the readers of this column who would like to write and sell poems don’t seem to be against money at ail. In 4 fact, they write to me often to ask about opportunities for writing and selling verse. Unfulfilled Wish As their letters come in, I find myself wishing I could match their eagerness and that I could assure them in the next day’s mail that the path to publishing poetry is paved with greenbacks and coins. But instead I have to point out the fact that poetry is not the way to pay off the creditors quickly. It can be a wonderful hobby, though. So if you would like to make it your pastime because you are in love with words, here are things to con-
1. Read and study the work of good poets. Recite the best of what you read out loud and memorize some of it. Build up your vocabulary until you can paint word pictures that are imaginative and fresh instead of stereotyped. Equip yourself with a rhyming dictionary. 2. Build your poems on fresh thoughts or new twists to old ideas. Base them on subjects and themes that have an interest and appeal for many people. Think It Over 3. Once you have a fresh idea and a definite feeling about it, mull over your thoughts, as you do other things, until the verse is ready to be born. When that time arrives set down the poem as it comes to you at the moment. Later you can polish and re-work it. 4. When you have revised it and put it into shape, ask two of three people who are good judges of poetry to read it and give you their reactions. People
