By GAYLORD P. GODWIN WASHINGTON UPI — The government’s investment in price-supported commodities as of Feb. 28 totaled $6,681,230,000. This was $736 million less than

a year earlier, and about $160 million less than a month earlier. The Agriculture Department said the current investment was made up of $3,790,216,000 In commodities owned outright by the Commodity Credit Corp., and $2,891,022,000 in outstanding loans on commodities still held by producers.

The cu'.rrent estimate of world soybean production in 1965 by the Foreign Agriculture Service indicated a record 1.2 billion bushels were harvested. This was about one-sixth larger than 1964 production. FAS said more than threefourths of the total was grown in non-Communist areas of the world with the United States alone accounting for more than 70 per cent. Almost 95 per cent of the estimated 150 million bushels increase from the previous year was in the United States, The U.S. produced almost 844 million bushels in 1965. Red China, the second largest producer, had ah estimated 250 million bushels. Other producers of sizable crops were the Soviet Union, 16 million bushels; Brazil, 16.6 million bushels; Japan, 8.4 million bushels; Canada, 8 million bushels; Mexico, 2.4 million bushels, and Colombia, 2.3 million bushels.
