Prof. Dinsmore
Opens Campaign Professor James A. Dinsmoor, an IU Psychology professor since 1951, launched his Putnam County campaign for 7th District Congressman Thursday morning at the DePauw Union Building. Before a group of followers he brought from Bloomington and local interested people he outlined the purposes of his candidacy. Basing his efforts on Viet Nam Peace, he said, "As far as I am concerned, the crucial issue in this year’s campaign is how soon we can bring our fighting
men back from Viet Nam.”
The Bloomington Peace Forum whose purpose has been to educate the people on Viet Nam is backing Prof. Dinsmoor (a member of the organization) to bring about discussion of the issues and thru votes give evidence of support for a Peace Position. “It is our job to prepare the voting public for the only solution that can come out of this mess, a settlement that recognizes the force of Vietnamese nationalism, that recognizes the need for social change in Viet Nam, and that recognizes that the National Liberation Front does indeed represent a substantial
portion of the population.”
Prof. Dinsmoor is running on the Democrat Ballot but making his appeal to all who agree with their views. He is 44 years old, graduate of Dartmouth in Political Science and has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia. He belongs to several professional organizations.
