Reelsville Pleas Big Mask Might The “Soft-Singing Sound” of ' the Old Fashioned Aires Quartet with Harry Martin of WFBM-TV will soon be heard in this area ,in person. Reelsville High School Is planning a big night for listening and watching Saturday, April 16, when this group, along with “Deke and Zelda,’ a comedy team, will be gracing the Reelsville stage. The Quartet and the comedy team will provide an entire evening’s entertainment, singing gospel and variety songs, and giving us laughter throughout. The Old Fashioned Aires recently received a national “Oscar” award, the title of “Best .New Quartet,” given by the World Youth Council on the . basis of their first successful . record album. Active in concert work in the midwest since .1961, the Old Fashioned Aires Quartet is featured on the morning television program, .“Today In Indiana,” on WFBMTV, Indianapolis. i Two married couples make up the quartet — Bob and Rowana Banks and Harry and Marion Martin. The Martins’ oldest daughter, Judy,-is pianist. Their .teen-aged daughter, Debby, often appears with the group ae vocalist. There is entertainment here for all age groups and Saturday, April 16 promises to be a long remembered night for all .those who attend. Cieverdale Rites Fer Mellie Hoffa Nellie Hofta, 79, Cloverdale Route 1, died late Monday morning at the Donna Nursing Home in doverdale, where she had lived for the past year and a half. She was bon in Putnam County, October 25, 1886, the daughter of Albert and Melinda Neese Zenor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hoffa, in 1936. Mrs. Hoffa is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Coffey, Fillmore; one son, Paul Hoffa, Indianapolis; one granddaughter, and one great-grandchild. She was a member of the Cunot Universalist Church. The funeral ‘will be Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home In Cloverdale, with interment hi the Cloverdale Cemetery. Rev. Welter Jones will officiate, assisted by Rev. John Berry, friends may call at the funeral home anytime.

Hill said conversion of the plant for Case’s use would take four or five months. He said the plant should go into Operation early next year. Lillian Smith returned Sunday from a twx> weeks vacation which they spent in Tampa, Winter Haven, Setting and SL Petersburg, Florida. Mrs. Florence L. Pratt, who formerly resided in Greencastle, was the victim of a serious accident Friday. She was driving shout ten miles north of her Robinson, Illinois home, and as she turned she was hit by a car driving behind her, and her right shoulder was broken, and she was hurt otherwise. She is hospitalized In the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Tuesday, April 5th, at 10:30 a. m., there will be a pre-school roundup at the Fillmore School Building. Tire Measure Before Senate WASHINGTON UPI — The Senate was expected to give overwhelming approval today to President Johnson’s tire safety bill—the first installment on the administration’s package of auto safety legislation. Senate leaders scheduled the vote for early afternoon. There was no advance Indication of any opposition to the bill. The legislation, cleared unanimously by the Senate Commerce Committee, would authorize the Secretary of Commerce to adopt minimum safety standards for new car tires on or before next Jan. 31. These would be based on existing public and private standards. The bill also would authorize the secretary to meet new minimum safety standards for new tires and retreads before Jan 31, 1969. These would be based on two years of research and study. On the same date, the commerce secretary also must report to Congress recommendations for Implementing a uniform quality-grading system for tires, if feasible. The commerce committee had virtually finished its work on the hill when Johnson included it in his traffic safety message. It was approved -midway through the opening day of hearings on the administration’s package. The commerce committee today continued hearings on the auto safety program.

Poverty Study AUSTIN Tex. UPI — Gov. John Connally announced a $34,920 grant Monday to Fort Worth and Tarrant County under the Community Action program. The money will be used to find out what causes poverty.
Miss Marian White Receives Merit Award Miss Marian White, Indianapolis, has been selected from the Eli Lilly employees, by the company’s American Legion Post No. 374 to receive their 10th annual Merit Award. The certificate of Merit was presented to Miss White Monday evening at a dinner at the Claypool Hotel, with over 200 employees of the Eli Lilly Company, families and friends of Marian in attendance. A reception at 6:00 p.m. preceded the dinner. Marian has been active in numerous civic organizations in Indianapolis over the years. She is now membership chairman of the Indianapolis Association of Personnel Women. Her present position with Eli Lilly is in the Saving and Retirement Planning. She started her career with the Lilly Company shortly after graduation from Emmerick Manual High School. She was president of the Manual Alumni Association for three years. She has served on programs for Goodwill Industries, Mental Health and is now helping to launch the new Hoosier Helper program as they match skills of the retired people with the needs of the community. Marian is the niece of Miss Elizabeth Ward and has many friends in Greencastle who congratulate her on this high honor.
Mrs. Hirt Hostess To Boston Club The Boston Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. J. F. Hirt, R. R. 2, at seven-thirty. The president, Mrs. O. D. McCullough called the meeting to order and invited as many members as possible to attend the county Federated Club meeting at Morton in April. Mrs. Kyle Miller, secretary, read the minutes of the February meeting which were approved. The June picnic was anticipated. Mrs. Hirt reported for the nominating committee. Last year’s officers were nominated and accepted. Guest night wil be the May meeting held in the home of Mirs. Wilma Cash Hostess To Missionary Group The Mary Martha Missionary Circle of Bethel Baptist Church met Thursday, March 24th, at 1:30 p.m. with Wilma Cash. Devotions and prayer by Betty McDaniel. Roll call was word “missions.” Joan Cash had the program, “A New Thing God Is Doing.” She gave it as a play. Several taking parts of going on airplanes to different countries of this troubled world, telling the gospel story in word and deed. The program was closed with prayer. Miners Strike LUSAKA, Zambia UPI — Production at the world’s second largest copper mine was halted Monday when 2,000 African workers at the ‘Nchange mine went on strike.
