When You’ve Nothing To Say Don’t Join The Conversation By Allied Sheinwold There’s nothing wrong with joining a conversation when you have something to say, but when you’re at the bridge table it’s poor form to add your morsel just to hear the sound of
your voice.

North would have played the hand at three notrump, a very reasonable contract. Against four spades. West opened the jack of hearts and continued the suit. South ruffed and saw that he needed a 3-3 break in trumps. He also needed four trump tricks to add to the five diamonds and the ace ef dubs to win a total of ton tricks. The only chance seas to ruff twice in the South hand and draw trumps with tha king and ace before running the diamonds. But first South had to maka the key play of leading a low trump and playing low also from the dummy. SMUTS TO CLUBS East won with the nine of spades and Shifted to the king of dubs. Declarer won In dummy with the ace of dubs and ruffed dummy's last heart. South cashed the king of spades, which was now his last trump, and got to dummy with a diamond to load out the ace ef spades. This drew the last two trumps and allowed South to discard a dub. South then ran the rest of the diamonds and gave up his last dub at tha end after ha had taken ten tricks. DAILY QUESTION You have opened with one dub, ,the next player bids ons heart, partner passes and the other opponent bids two hearts. You hold: S-A 3 2 H-K4S DA K 10 C-A J t 7. What do pouaayT ANSWER: Double or bid S NT. This shows a very strong some courage). Five Will Die For Gang Rape MEMPHIS, Tenn. UPI — Eight Negroes charged with the gang rape of two white girls were convicted Thursday by an integrated jury. The all-male panel fixed the sentence of five of the men at death—a penalty which Tennessee has not carried out in more than five years. The jury, which Included two Negroes, set the sentence of the other three men at 99 years in prison. Two other defendants were acquitted by the panel which deliberated 20 hours. The defendants, age 17 to 27, were charged with raping girls aged 14 and 16. The girls testified they were attacked repeatedly the night of Nov. 14, 1964, by a gang of Negroes who broke windows out of a parked car in which they sat with their dates. The girls said they were raped while their escorts were held at bay with a knife and a bayonet
