A continuous amperage control and a long duty cycle are features normally found only on large, expensive industrial arc welders, but now these advantages have become available in smaller units suitable for farm, home, small shop and service station use. The above model, for example, has both continuous amperage control and an increased duty cycle, A positive, silent slide bar control allows selection of an exact amperage from 30 to 180 and 40 to 230 amps. The duty cycle is rated at 20, 30, 60 and 100 per cent, increasing welding output up to 50 per cent over standard 20 per cent duty cycle on other welders. An electrode jack plug allows a choice of high or low range voltage. The unit is available from Montgomery Ward. The welder meets or exceeds R.E.A. and N.E.M.A. requirements and its UL listed. It can be operated on 220-440 volt, single phase AC current, 50-60 cycle. Its measurements are 25x18x12 inches and it has a printed chart showing proper rod size to use for general welding. It comes complete with ground cable and clamp electrode cable and holder, fiber glass helmet and an assortment of electrodes and a complete instruction manual. The 180 amp. model has a range from 30 to 180 amps and the 230 amp. welder has & range from 40 to 230 amps.

Wilson Supports US. Viol Policy LONDON UPI — Leftwing members of Parliament from Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s Labor party today faced a challenge from the British leader to start criticizing Peking and Hanoi as much as they have the United States over the Viet Nam war. s' • ■ In a scathing attack Tuesday night in the House of Commons, Wilson reiterated his support of U.S. Viet Nam policy and denounced a telegram sent to Washington by JM) Laborite M.P.’s who do not like the way President Johnson is handling the war. Rightwing Laborite leaders quickly backed the prime minister by cabling President Ho Chi Minh of Communist North Viet Nam a plea to “leave the battle for the conference table.” They urged him to accept United Nations Secretary General Thant’s “recommendation to

agree to negotiate. 1 * 1 None of the rebel Laborites signed the cable. In his speech to Parliament, Wilson said Hanoi might be inclined to make peace in Viet Nam except for the “malevolent pressures” by Communist China. “I should like to have seen the ‘peace-for-Viet-Nam’ lobby outside the Chinese embassy demanding that the Chinese government should use their influence—or at least diminish their malevolent pressures on Hanoi —^preventing Hanoi from following what might be her natural inclinations to make peace,” Wilson declared.

Mode a Choice PITMAN, N. J. UPI — Two budget proposals drafted by community planners were overwhelmingly rejected in referendum Tuesday. But on the same ballot, all the incumbents on the planning board were returned to office.
