leaves Hospital HOLLYWOOD UPI — Former White House press secretary Pierre Salinger,' weighing about 60 pounds less than when he entered, left Cedars of Lebanon Hospital Tuesday after nearly three weeks’ treatment for amoebic hepatitis. “I wanted to lose some weight anyway,” the former California senator told newsmen. He added he was "feeling better.” Salinger, who served under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, said he expected to return to work in about a month. He is an executive with Continental Airlines.

Many Failed To File Tax Returns INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The Indiana Department of Revenue reported today that for the first time it has a complete computer report identifying many thousands of Hoosiers who filed the "long Form” federal tax returns but did not file state income returns for 1963. However, chief deputy revenue commissioner Robert C. Hale said that the total of 167,000 "is misleading when you consider the number of students.” Hale said the computer comparison has been in use for about four years but “this is the first time we have had a complete table” on the long form which is not used by many Hoosiers. However, this form is used by persons in higher income brackets and those who have businesses. Hale noted it also is used by college students who have summer jobs and who file the long form to get back the withholding tax. “Our sampling indicated a lot of students in the 167,000,” Hale explained. The students are not liable for state taxes.

Novelist Dies SAN FRANCISCO UPI — Kathleen Norris, one of America’s most prolific women novelists, died Tuesday at the age of 85 in the San Francisco home of her son, Dr. Frank Norris.

MOTHER OF 22—Mrs. Alvin Miller, 43, married for 25 years, smiles proudly as she holds her 22nd child, Alvin Miller, Jr., following the baby’s birth in Waseca, Minn. The Millers, who operate a 300-acre farm, have fourteen children in Sacred Heart School.
