DePauw Tigers Face Pumas Tonight In ICC Road Game
Its winning streak shattered at four by Ball State, DePauw’s basketball team hits the road again tonight for Rensselaer. Waiting at the end of the line will be St. Joseph’s 4-6 Pumas who wrecked a good Wabash team Wednesday 10272 on the same floor in Crafford sville where Wabash measured DePauw a month ago, 8264. Two peppery, lightening like guards are the gears of St. Joe’s attack. Tom Crowley is firing at 15.0 ppg and his cross court mate, Ken Broussard, is pumping them in 20 at a time. The loss of 6-4 center Larry Teagley, sidelined permanently along with his 14.6 average apparently hasn’t cramped the Pumas’ style. , They lost to Butler 86-65 while making the transition but bagged Wabash by 30 with sophomore Denny Potts (6-3) and John Flick (6-5) alternating. Puma forwards are 6-1 footb&ller-basketballer Terry Davisson and 6-3 Fred Farley. Only change likely in the Tiger lineup is a switch at guard where 6-1 Denny Barrett has stepped in to replace slumping Dan Schermer, 5-9 guard who has started for DePauw since the third game of last season. Otherwise it will be Jack Hogan opposite Barrett, Tom McGurk at center, and Morgan

New Ross Clips Russellville Bees Russellville’s Bees dropped a big one to foe New Ross on the home floor last night after rallying to a 29-28 half time lead over the Big Four Conference team, 80-64. It was the eleventh outing for the Bees and the seventh loss of the season. Visiting New Ross pushed their way into a 17-12 first quarter lead, but the fired up Bees, paced by hot-handed Ron Richardson, rallied to comeback and outscore their guests 17-11 to take a one-point lead at the half time intermission,
29-28.
Tough New Ross shook of the rally in the early minutes of the third period and outpaced their host 28-17 in the third quarter and 24-18 in the final fourth period to claim their 16 point
victory.
New Ross had four men in double figures with Haffner hitting 22, Williams 20, Smith 15, and Harrison 12 points. The Bees were paced by hot-handed Ron Richardson who dumped in 27 points. Russellville will meet Reelsville at Russellville next week. * BATTLE FOR THE BALL Greencastle’s Bill Nanovsky, hidden except for a leg and a couple of arms tangles with Cascade’s Ken Weliewer for a rebound in the above action shot. Banner Photo—Frank Puckett, Jr.
By FRANK PUCKETT, JR. Banner Sports Editor Holding it down to a 19 point spread, the Greencastle Tiger Cubs avenged a 35-point whipping they took from Cascade’s Cadets last year as they played host to the new sectional entries in the uptown gym last night, 76-57. The victory made it 11 in-a-row for the Tiger Cub crew against only one loss of the season to Attica while the Cadets were forced to make their season record 3-7. It was the third time this season the Cadets have met defeat at the hands of a Putnam County team. Hitting the Hendricks County representatives with the “Mac” press from the starting gun, Greencastle fought their way through a somewhat slow first quarter to emerge with a 19-7 lead. The Cadets looked as though they were ready for the press, but the Tiger Cub offensive was just a little too much to match as the Cubs fired in 8 for 15 first period field goals while the Cadets could manage only 1 out of 10 trys. ' Greencastle shot an overall 28 for 62 from the field for a .450 percentage. Cascade was able to push in only 1 field goal the first quarter, 6 the second, 3 the third, and 7 the fourth for a 17 of 54 total giving them a low .313 shooting percentage from the field. The Cubs held a sixteen point lead at half time, 36-20. They outscored Cascade in the third period 17-12, but the Cadets came back in a strong fourth to outscore the host 25-23. But, it was too late for the already downed Cadets. Jim Chadd paced the scoring by tossing in 10 field goals and
7 free throws for a 27 point performance while Mike Troyer added 21 points to the Cub cause. High man for Cascade was Weliewer with 17. The Cubs will travel to Schulte next week for what should prove to be a real battle. Summaries:

G...R...R TWO! Tough and high scoring Tiger Cub Mike Troyer had to get this two the hard way, but the little hustler managed to make the shot in spite of three conflicting arms. The Cubs played Cascade last night in the uptown gym and took the contest, 76-57. Banner Photo—Frank Puckett, Jr.
CardsClip Indians Record Now 8-2
Fillmore grabbed an early lead over the visiting Reelsville Indians last night and refused to back off as they defeated their South Putnam sisters, 7352. Both county teams went into the contest holding identical season records of 7-2, Fillmore bowing out to Cloverdale twice this season and Reelsville dropping one to Cloverdale and Van Buren earlier in the season. The Cardinals had nine men in the scoring column as coach Darrell Hoyer substituted freely all through the contest while the Indians relied heavily on the 22-point performance of 6-7 pivot man Joe Williams. Coach Charles McClure fired his determined team into a zone that collapsed on the big Fillmore pivot man 6-9 Wayne Bright. With the zone focusing on the big Cardinal man guard Jim Craig cut loose with a barrage of buckets that gave him a five field goal first-quarter. Doubling the Indian output in the first period 14-7, the Cards went ahead to score 20 points in the second quarter for a 34-23 half time lead. Hitting 19 points in the third period and 20 in the final quarter the Cards went ahead to down their opponents 21 points. Hot-handed Craig tossed in 15 points while Glaze added an equal of 15 for the Cards. Williams paced the Indians with 22 points. Fillmore will travel to Coal Creek Central tonight where they will meet Linden. The Cards are now 8-2 while the Indians are 7-3.

Balanced Scoring Leads Way For Bainbridge Win Over Roachdale Hawks
Bainbridge racked up victory number 11 last night against two defeats of the season by knocking off county rival Roachdale on the Pointer floor, 87-52. It was the first game in the last seven outings that the Pointers have dropped under 90 points. A balanced scoring attack led the way for the Bainbridge crew as they took a 17-11 first period margin, rolled to a 45-30 half time stop, and scored 42 points to the Hawks 22 points in the last half. Four men hit the double figure column hard as Pointers Steele, Judy, McFarland and Rossok swished the nets for 25, 14, 12, and 22 points respective-
ly.
Bainbridge out rebounded their guest 50-32 with 6-5 Steele grabbing off 21 rebounds and Rossok man-handling the boards with 10. The Pointer height advantage towed a lot of weight into the contest. Roachdale has only one boy over six feet. Dropping in 35 of 91 shots from the field the Pointers hit a low .384 percentage while the

a .385 percentage, .001 better than the victorious Pointers. The Pointers will host Montezuma next week while Roachdale will tangle with North Salem the same night for the second time this year.
