Some Punkins
When the frost is on the punkin, it’s just the right time to put delectable Pumpkin Chiffon Pudding on the menu. The dessert is an airy pumpkin chiffon mixture, fragrant with spices, that is turned into a shell of graham cracker crumbs. Thanks to its content of unflavored gelatine, the pudding requires little cooking — only the few minutes needed to dissolve the gelatine. This fluffy dessert will top off a hearty cold-weather meal in

rose 4 per cent in the month ending Dec. 15. This brought them to a level which was 11 per cent above the average for the same date one year ago. At the same time, the Agriculture Department reported farm costs edged up two-thirds of 1 per cent in the month ending Dec. 15. That left the government’s farm cost index at the highest point on record, up 3.5 per cent from mid-Decem-ber this year of 1964. In terms of parity, the traditional yardstick for farm prices, the price level for midDecember this year averaged 80 per cent of parity. This was up three points from one month ago and up five points from one year ago. The contrast with farm market prices at the end of 1964 is greatest in reports on prices for meat animals. The index of prices for all meat animals in mid-December this year was 7 per cent above mid-October, the highest level since August, 1952. Hog prices in mid-December were at the highest point since September of 1948. The over-all index of meat animal prices in the final report for. 1965 was 36 per cent above the level of one year ago. Compared with a year ago, poultry and egg prices this December are up 18 per cent,
mostly because of higher egg prices. But the index of feed grains and hay is 3 per cent below a year ago. Fruit is 15 per cent below last December and cotton is 5 per cent lower.
