Home Demonstration Clubs To Hold Achievement Day Program

If any man will do his will, he shall know. John 7:17.

God reserves His revelations for those who are ready to obey at the cost.

Miss Dorothy Emerson of the National 4-H Foundation in Washington, D. C., will be the guest speaker at the Putnam County Home Demonstration Clubs’ annual Achievement Day program to be held on Wednesday, October 13 in the Community Building on the 4-H fairgrounds. Miss Emerson formerly held positions whth j the Cooperative Extension Service in New Hampshire, Delaware, and Maryland before accepting her present position. Several Putnam Co. women heard her speak at the National Extension Homemakers Council held on the Purdue Campus in August. She calls herself a “platform conserva-

tionalist” instead of a public speaker because the audiences are always carrying on a con-! versation, too! She encourages women to “step up and speak up’’ and take their part in community activities. Mrs. Carl Arnold, chairman for the event has arranged other interesting features for the day's program.

Mr. Cook is a gifted tenor singer and sings solos as well as leads the congregational singing. Prior to his minister as pastor, Mr. Cook served five years as an itinerant evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Marie Cook, wife of the evangelist, is also an alto singer. She assists her husband in duets, and also plays the piano and organ. The Cooks attended Trevecca Nazarene College, Nashville, Tennessee and for four years while in school Mr. Cook traveled with the College Quartet.

INDIANAPOLIS UPI —Former Indiana Gov. Matthew E. Welsh confirmed reports Wednesday that FBI agents have been conducting a background investigation of him. Sources said the Vincennes attorney is being considered as an appointee for a “high federal post.” Welsh, 53, said he did not know what post this could be, if any. The Democratic shieftian is now practicing law in Indianopolis. Some reports have said Welsh might be named by President Johnson as an undersecretary of state.
