Insurance Bill To White House WASHINGTON UPI — The House today approved and sent to the White House legislation to let all U. S. servicemen buy $10,000 group life insurance policies at a cost of about $2 per month. The administration was reported poised to put the plan into effect within a matter of days. Initially, all men in service will be covered automatically. The coverage will continue except for those who later ask in writing to be excluded. The plan was evolved as an answer to complaints that some men are losing their lives in South Viet Nam without leaving an estate of any kind. Existing law provides gratuities for service deaths far in excess of $10,000. but only for dependents. Under the bill, the group policies will be written by a pool of private insurance firms. The government will deduct premiums from monthly pay.
