INDIANAPOLIS UPI — A verdict of accidental death due to a “pilot error’’ probably will be returned in the fatal helicopter crash which killed Michael Dobich, according to a near-

Game is Fatal to Teenager

BROWNSTOWN UPI — An 18-year-old girl was injured fatally Sunday afternoon as she and three teen-age girl companions played a dangerous game with a car called “Chinese fire drill.” The victim was Shirley Rieckers, R. R. 3, Brownstown, w'ho fell from the fender of a convertible in the parking lot of Brownstown High School and was crushed by the wheels of the vehicle operated by Shelby Jean Wischmeier, 18, Brownstown. State police who reported the accident said they never heard of the game before, but it apparently is popular among certain groups of teenagers.

To play the game, the driver of a car stops the vehicle suddenly. All the occupants jump out run around the car and find new seats in places they have not occupied previously during the game. Shirley found a spot on the fender of the top-down convertible. Two other girls, identified by police as Barbara Schleter, 18, and Barbara Schepman, 18, Brownstown, were sitting on top of the back seat. When Shelby started the car, Shirley fell off. She was rushed to an Indianapolis hospital where she died about two hours after the accident.

Harold Jacobs, CAB Investigator, that “he feels there might have been a pilot effort” on the part of the Dobich Securities Co. president which caused the craft to crash. Kebel explained that Jacobs will turn over his findings to the CAB in Washington which sometime later will issue a formal report. Kebel said he is waiting for an autopsy report from Dr. Robert Forney, state toxicologist, before making a final review of all facts leading to a coroner’s vedict. “But unless something bizaar develops, I think it will be pretty much what the CAB says,” Kebel said. “If there had not been a scandal, this would have been an open and shut case.” The Dobich firm went bankrupt four days after the July 10 crash in which Dobich was killed and his secretary injured. Creditors have about $3 million in claims against the firm. Kebel said that until all the facts are in, no formal verdict will be issued. But he said Jacobs could find no evidence the helicopter Dobich had rented while his own was being repaired had any mechanical malfunction.

INDIANAPOLIS UPI — The All three girls report the end of the Indiana State Fair State Fair School was one of Tuesday also marked the end the most interesting awards of a talented woman’s service , , to one of the fair’s seldom pubey a v\ on. licised educational institutions. Mrs. Charles Sohl, Noblesville, announced her resignation as director of the Indiana State ' Fair Girl’s School, a post she had held for 17 years. The school, now in its 43rd year, runs concurrently with the fair. “I want to quit while I still enjoy doing it.” Mrs. Sohl said. | “I felt it was time to turn the job over to someone younger. You can overstay on something like this." During the past 17 years, the former home economics teacher has directed the all-girl school with calm good humor under a situation that would give many educators ulcers.

Indiana Had Frost Aug. 29 LAFAYETTE, Ind. UPI — Purdue University agronomist Howell Wheaton reported during the weekend that scattered frost was recorded in Northern IndianaAug. 29. Wheaton gave the report in advising farmers that corn damaged by frost, hail or drought can be safely made into silage. "Immature frosted corn will not make silage as high in quality as corn that has reached the full dent stage,” he said. “It still will make reasonably good feed. Quality depends on the stage of development and how quickly the com is ensiled.” Wheaton said frosted corn is usually low in carotene and may need a vitamin “A” supplement. He said it should be cut as soon as damage is discovered.
