MURAT GUN CLUB IN ACTION
One of the highlights of “The Fair On The Square” parade on September 18 will be the Murat Gun Club members and their ever popular high jinx antics. They are clever performers and are an outstanding hit wherever they appear.
AWARD WINNER BOSTON UPI — John A. “Snooks” Kelley, head coach of hockey at Boston College and president of the American Hockey Coaches Association, has received the seventh annual Sheaffer Pen award for his "outstanding contribution to amateur hockey.” In his 29 years as coach at Boston College, Kelley has guided the B. C. Eagles to seven New England championships, six Eastern titles, eight imitations to NCAA championship tournaments, and one NCAA championship His 1964-65 squad lost only to Michigan Tech in the finals of this past season's NCAA tourney in March.

The dead were identified as John Stevens Jr., 49, of Falls ^ City, Neb., who w T as riding with : his family, and James Perrie, | 44, of Hastings, Neb., who was | riding with his wife.
The injured, most of them Nebraskans, were rushed to first aid stations on the fair-
grounds and then taken by ambulances to Lincoln's three largest hospitals. Two of them remained in critical condition today: Mrs. James Isobel Perrie, wife of one of the dead men, and Mrs. Mary Stevens, sister-in-law of the other victim.
SPARKLING CHICAGO (UPI)—Arkansas Is a state more noted for mountains, fishing and resorts than diamonds but it also is where North America’s largest gem was discovered. The diamond, found at Murfreesboro, Ark., in 1924, weighed 40.23 carats and was cut to emerald shape of 12.42 carats, says the Libby food company. However, the outlook for extensive diamond collections in the U. S. isn’t bright. American diamond deposits are sparse, and quality is uniformly poor, says the company, which is sponsoring a Diamond Sweepstakes offering a $30,000 sackful of diamonds as first prize.
Tragedy Strikes Nebraska Fair LINCOLN, Neb. UPI — It was a gala Sunday morning at the state fair and the midway was jammed with 100,000 sightseers. There were farmers in overalls and housewives in bright gingham dresses. There were students in town early for the start of fall classes. There were teen-age boys with their best girls and there were hundreds of squealing children. On the colorful “Sky Ride,” 70 persons rode the gently swaying gondolas along a metal cable only 25 feet above the ground.
