The South Putnam Schools Will open September 3, 1965. Starting time for the first day will be announced by the principals and the organization meeting for the students will last only part of the day. There will be a work shop for the elementary teachers August 31. 1965 at the Reelsville Building and a general meeting for all teachers September 2. 1965 at the Fillmore Building. The Superintendent has also established a workshop for the elementary teachers for September 11, 1965 which will deal primarily with reading in the elementary grades.
The following attendance area changes have been made.
1. First and Second grade students at Putnamville will be transported to Reelsville. By doing this it will enable each class section to have twentyfive students and eliminate the necessity of split grades. 2. Kindergarten students from Reelsville will be transported to Putnamville for Kindergarten. All transportation will be furnished between the two buildings. 3. Seventh. Eighth and Ninth grade students from Putnamville will be transferred to the Reelsville Schools. 4. Belle Union students grades K, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, will

as the first major move In a financial campaign “to strengthen our Republican party position both in Congress and In the state Houses throughout the nation in 1966.” The Republican National Committee has been functioning under what it calls a “bare bones” budget of $17 million for this year. That is the normal budget for a year with no national election.
Plans are being made, however, to begin operating under a beefed up budget this fall to put the national party organization in fighting trim for the ! 1966 campaign. The major Republican fund ! raising event scheduled so far is a nationwide string of dinners Oct. 14 to celebrate Eisenhower’s 75th birthday. CANBERRA UPI — Australia will send an additional 350 soldiers to South Viet Nam
soon to fight the Communist Cong, Prime Minister Robert G. Menzies announced today. Menzies also told Parliament that a planned cut in the military draft is being scrapped and the services will continue to draw 8,400 men a year. It had been planned to cut the figure to 6,900.
