; The jelly making set Ip in a tizzy over an Early American {pressed ware type glass. It all started when an old fashioned, fwide mouth jelly tumbler was molded in a quilted-crystal design, ifitted with metal lid decked in gay fruits, and displayed in {supermarkets. , These new-old eight ounce glasses come in a reusable styrotfnam tray. Each of the dozen glasses has a little compartment ‘of its own. I Mamma would have loved the way the planes, made by the Iquilted design, reflect light when jelly is turned out for serving. fHer granddaughters and most of their friends couldn’t care less ’about that. But they delight in being among the first to use the lelegant looking, inexpensive glasses for serving party dips and 'other food accessories as well as the breakfast jelly Other women are filling the pretty containers with anything tfrom peanuts to pansies and passing them out as gifts. So. don't .be surprised if you find some of them under your Christmas •tree; empty, filled with jelly, or maybe popcorn. ( i

Moon Rocket's Test Is Perfect CAPE KENNEDY UPI— An Atlas-Centaur rocket shot a dummy spacecraft toward a “paper moon” Wednesday in a flawless rehearsal for America's first Project Surveyor moonshot this fall. The brilliant success was a big boost to the hardluck Centaur that has cost more than a I half billion dollars to develop. The high-powered rocket sent the 2.100-pound surveyor model speeding on a 63-hour journey toward an imaginary point 240,000 miles away In space. The rocket itself performed 1 with near perfection on its 11- ' minute climb intos pace. It then kicked the dummm payload away from the Centaur upper stage with the rocket performing an acrobatic maneuver to shoot it away from the model moonship’s course. The success, one of the most

Important In Centaur's history, cleared the booster for the first launch of a live Surveyor lunar lander in November or December. The rocket had only two successes in five previous shots and blew up on its last launch in March.

No Merger of Reserves, Guard WASHINGTON UPI — A House subcommittee Wednesday killed the administration's plan to merge the Army Reserves and the National Guard by officially announcing its oppostion to the plan. In a statement marking the end of its hearings, the armed services panel said the merger would not be in the "national interest.” The statement was issued by Chairman F. Edward Hebert, D-La.. and signed by eight of the nine members of the sub-

eommitte®. Th® Ion# dissenter was Rep. Lucien Nedzi, DMich., who said the majority had acted “directly contrary to the national interest,” particularly in view of the crisis in Viet Nam. The panel rejected the Pentagon’s contention that the proposal would result in “more usable combat power.”
