NOW’S THE TIME TO CHECK WIRING Summertime is the time to have electrical wiring checked and repaired. THE INDIANA FARM SAFETY COUNCIL warns you not to starve your electric servants — make sure your wiring meets today’s needs.

Capt. Robert Poor of 108 Northwood Blvd., Greencastle, gives Maj. Charles P. Keller of 2218 Virginia Avenue, Muncie, a hand into the 20-man life raft during water survival training for air crew members of the 72nd Troop Carrier Squadron at the Northside Junior High School pool in Columbus. Should any of the men of the 72nd ever have to “ditch’’ their C-119 Flying Boxcar in the ocean, one of these rafts is thrown clear for their survivals. Crew members are required to take the water survival course every year as the 72nd regularly flies over-water missions for the Air Force. The 72nd is the flying arm of the 931st Troop Carrier Group now conducting its two-week annual active duty training at Bakalar Air Force Base, Columbus, Indiana. The Group maintains a constant state of combat readiness to perform its misison: para-drop of troops and supplies. This unit, along with the other two Groups of the 434th Troop Carrier Wing, reported overnight for active duty during the 1962 Cuban crisis. Currently, volunteer aircrews of the 434th Troop Carrier Wing ara assisting Military Air Transport Command and Tactical Air Command on logistical missions in the continental United States, Puerto Rico, Greenland and Alaska.

Therein lies the opportunity for the Senate Republican leadership to get up off the floor and make a fight of it. The Democratic majority in Powell’s committee rejected six amendments offered by the Republicans to protect minority rights of members of compulsory unionism. The nature of these amendments is not generally known.

They are as follows:
