third heart trick.

The advantage comes If the finesse loses. If East happens to have the queen of clubs he cannot safely return a heart. South will have time to test the spades before he has to make up his mind about the hearts. When the spades break 3-3. South can take his slam without further risk. Only if the club finesse los- ■ s and the spades break badly must South decide about the

There is an advantage In postponing a decision until all the evidence Is in. and South should play in such a way as to keep this advantage. DAILY QUESTION Partner opens with one no-

Strikes Silver From U.S. Coins WASHINGTON UPI—President Johnson today signed into law legislation to strike silver from the nation's dimes and quarters. The action marks the first major change in U. S. coinage since the early days of the republic. The Chief Executive signed the bill, passed by Congress earlier this month, at a White House ceremony. Johnson had put the measure high on his list of priority legislation. He said it was necessary to conserve rapidly dwindling supplies of silver for use in defense and consumer products.

Soya Co. Seeks An Injunction DECATUR UPI—A hearing has been scheduled for July 29 on a complaint by the Central Soya Co. seeking an injunction against picketing United Mine Workers in their efforts to prevent access to the struck plant. Central filed the suit in Adams Circuit Court before Judge Myles Parish Thursday. The suit, naming Local 15173 District 50 UMW, also sought $50,000 damages. The union members struck Monday on grounds their old contract expired June 30 and a 10-day renewal period had ended without a solution to a controversy over terms of a new contract. Central charged that union pickets have prevented free access to the plant by blocking driveways and entrances and that threats of violence have been heard.
