Completes Pacific Sailing Voyage HONOLULU UPI — A blond* divorcee nursed a broken wrist Thursday and celebrated the completion of a 40-day solo s«ilboat voyage from Los Angelea to Hawaii. Mrs. Sharon Sites, 34, is believed to be the first woman to sail the treacherous voyage alone. The former dental secretary started the trip in her sloop, the Sea Sharp, despite warnings by the Coast Guard and her sailing instructor that the trip was unsafe. She was accompanied only by a pet turtle. The wind-damaged Sea Sharp was towed into Keehi lagoon by a Coast Guard cutter Wednesday after it was spotted by a fishing boat about a mile offshore. Mrs. Sites dodged questions about her broken wrist. “I'm too embarrassed to say what happened,” she said. She did say, however, that between June 24 and June 29, she ran into violent winds up to 60 miles an hour. “I had to lash everything down,, hang on for dear life and pray,” she said. Mrs. Sites made the trip without a radio or fuel for the craft's motor. She had taken ^only enough food for 60 days.
