than two hours early today at Rockport, Mo. Floodwaters three feet deep swirled over highways and swept automobiles hundreds of yards. High winds, hard rain and hail battered the town for more than 30 minutes, closing all but one road for several hours. By daybreak the water was receeding but inches of mud remained. Staplehurst, Neb., was hit with nearly 7 inches of rain during the night. Three inches of rain fell at Walnut, Neb., and hail damaged roofs and cars at Omaha. Violent thunderstorms ranged the Midwest and plains Sunday night. Harrison, Ark., was hit with 2.52 inches of rain in six hours and hail piled 2 inches deep in Claremont, Minn.

Four In Court JOLIET, HI. UPI—Four Illinois residents were scheduled to appear in circuit court here today to face charges stemming from burglaries at Lockport and Terre Haute, Ind. Police said the four were arrested when stolen property was alleged found in one of their apartments. They said the goods were found in an apartment where Sandra Morris, 22, Chicago, lived. Also arrested were Erma Latham, 19, Joliet; Barry Wright, 38. and his brother, Eugene Wright, 37, both of Chicago.

Here's a new way to add excitement to summer soups and salads. Makes an interesting appetizer, too.
425* preheated electric oven
Va cup butter
iVa cups small curd cottage cheese
2 tbsp. milk
Paprika
Buttered baking sheet V/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
% fsp. baking powder
V/2 tsp. dill seed Makes 8 dozen
Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; add dill seed. Cut in butter until mixture is mealy. Stir in cottage cheese and milk until well blended. On a lightly floured board roll out about Va inch thick. Cut into 3 x Vi-inch strips. Place on baking sheet, sprinkle with paprika and bake 15 minutes. Note; Cottage Cheese Straws can be frozen.
