On July 7th the Merr>’ Maids last meeting was called to order by president, Jerretta Baker. The pledge to the flag was led by Nina Ader. The 4-H pledge was led by Kathy Davis. The singing was led by Sandy
Evans. Roll call was answered by your favorite color. Secretary, Diane Dozier, read the minutes. The Health & Safety report was then read by Diane Edwards. Then Darleen Price gave a demonstration on “how to measure things.” The meeting was then adjourned for recreation.
The Greeneastle Clovers 4-H Club met on July 8, at 9:30 a. m., at the Junior High School Home Economics Building. The meeting was called to order by the president, Kathy
Cooper. Barbara Archer led the pledge to the flag. Tamara MacPhail led the 4-H pledge. Mrs. MkKUlure helped the girls with their sewing projects and checked all record books. The Greeneastle caovers and the Ridpath 4-H Girls Club will have a joint bake-sale on July 16. at 1:00 p. m. to 3:30 p. m. in front of the J. C. Penney Co. j Store. All members of these ! two clubs are to bring a contribution of a cake, cookies, pie, etc. The next meeting will be held on July 15. at 9:30 a. m., at the Home Economics Building, of the Junior High School.
The seventh meeting of the Working Farmers was held on July 7, 1965 at the Wilsons. The American pledge was led by Larry Wilson. The 4-H pledge was led by Gary Nelson. For old business, we discussed our completion trip at Van Bibbers. For new business we discussed our tour. The The next meeting will be held on July 14, 1965 at 1:00 p. m. at the Alcorns.
Mr. and Mrs. Avery Hopkins were the hosts for the Franklin Twp. Swine Day held at their country home on July 11. The evening was spent in
showing how to wash, trim, oil, and prepare a hog for the show ring. They also had a show ring built and different 4-H’ers showed how to show them. Byron Gough, the Roachdale 4-H leader, acted as judge giving them points on what they were doing right or wrong. After the hog show, recreation was enjoyed, closing j with a wiener roast. Those attending were, Mike Risk, Mr. and Mrs. Byron ; Gough, Ed Britton, Mr. and I Mrs. Charles Skelton. Pat, Cheeck. Mr. and Mrs. Max Call, Ricky, Rex, Robin, Mr. and , Mrs. Charles Miller and family, i Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Crosby,
Janet and Steve, John Risk, Ron Winton and Rick Gilstrap, Gary Long, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ford, Nancy and Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Nobel Fry, Ralph and Philip, Mrs. Kay Clampitt, Bob, Pam, Virginia and the hosts Mr. and Mrs. Avery Hopkins, Terry, Brenda, Trent and Todd. A total of 47 people in all went home hoping to attend again next year.
Urges Measure For Migrants
. gress was urged by a labor un- ' ion spokesman to enact legislation to provide a minimum wage, collective bargaining rights and other benefits for migrant farm workers. The appear was made to the Senate Migratory Labor subcommittee by Arnold Mayer, lobbyist for the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen AFL-CIO. He testified in support of a five-bill legislative package to aid migrant workers.
Mayer said that although Congress had done much to correct shocking injustices, mi-

low wages, miserable housing, impossible working conditions.” The union spokesman recommended that the minimum wag* proposed in the legislation b* raised from 81.15 to $1.25 and the minimum age for farm work be fixed at 16 instead of 14 a* proposed. Scott Neilsen, a spokesman for the American Friends Service Committee also urged a minimum wage for farm workers. He said lack of fair labor laws for farm workers was a major contributing factor to their poverty.
