NiA Urged To Pioneer Exam NEW YORK UPI—The National Education Association (NEA) waa urged Thursday to pioneer a re-examination of the conduct and philosophy of education—especially in the early elementary and pre -school years. Speaking before thousands of educators gathered in Madison Square Garden for the 103rd NEA annual convention, Dr. Jerome Bruner, a noted Harvard University educational psychologist, asked that elementary education receive a fresh and complete overhaul — including an overhaul of the approach to the training of teachers. Bruner, who delivered the keynote address of the convention, detailed the early processes of education in a child and asked that a much higher priority be given to educating the pre-school student.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott and family were supper guests Friday evening of Mr. and Mrs. John Clodfelter in Greencastle.
Accusss Mayor Of Trying To Dodge CHICAGO UPI—The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said Thursday night that Chicago's mayor was trying to dodge the school integration issue by claiming that Communists were involved in local civil rights
protests.
King also advised Chicago protest leaders to ignore pleas from Mayor Richard J. Daley and other officials to stop their almost daily demonstrations and permit a cooling off period. “We’ve cooled off all too long and I'm afraid we’ll end up in a deep freeze,” King said in a speech to a church convention. “Now is the time to get rid of de facto segregation, whether in Atlanta, Ga„ or Chicago, HI.” Nineteen downtown marches have been held here in less than a month to protest alleged de facto school segregation. Police have made 645 arrests, most of them in traffic-block-ing street sprawls.
Sonic Boom Causes Damage in Nevada BELMONT, Nev. UPI —This near-deserted town, once a mining center at the turn of the century, has had noe boom too many. Full-Service Banking is Everyone
A NEW KIND OF BANK serves America today. It is without precedent in history, and does not exist in any other part of the world. It is the "Full-Service-Bank"—the only place where you can get financial services to meet every personal and business need. It not only offers more services than any other financial institution, it performs services that can be obtained from no other organization.
The CENTRAL NATIONAL BANK-by every standard of measurement—is a Full-Service-Bank. Unlike other financial institutions that are limited to only one or two services— The CENTRAL NATIONAL can handle ALL money needs. But of equal importance to Full Service is the unquestioned safety of our bank. With resources of more than $16,000,000 and capital and surplus funds of more than $1,400,000 the Central National Bank is a safe depository for your money. It provides more customer services than other financial institutions in its area.
The progress made by our bank and the position of importance that it occupies are a tribute to the spirit and vitality of our community and the people we serve. For this. The Central National will always be most grateful.
