Taft, R-Ohio, include such prominent Republicans as Henry Cabot Lodge, former Sen. Kenneth B. Keating, N.Y., and Dr. Arthur S. Flemming. Its newsletter said polls indiate that “most of the six to eight million Republicans who voted for Lyndon B. Heating Equipment Check Advised Now

Lata spring and early summer is the best time to make certain your heatmg system is In proper condition to keep your home comfortable next winter. R. J. Lee, division manager for Indiana Gas * Water Co., points out that homeowners can save themselves time, money and discomfort by checking heating equipment this time of year. First of all. last winter’s heating problems are still fresh in a homeowner's mind. In addition, heating dealers are able to provide speedier service during their summer business lull than during the busy fall months. Lee also noted that if a major system is necessary, it can be done with a minimum of inconvenience during summer when the heating equipment is not in use. Although the gas company official advised against the home handyman attempting to make major adjustments, he did suggest some things the homeowner san do to get his heating system ready for winter. -—Replace the filters on a forced warm air furnace. They should be replaced three or four times a year, or whenever they appear dirty. —Lubricate all motors, as well as the bearings of the blower. —Clean the return mr section of the furnace, especially that portion directly under the filters and around the hounsing of the blowers. —Many homeowners prefer to have their heating dealers han-

dle all service work in connection ■with their heating plants. Lee again emphasized the desirability of getting the job done promptly to avoid possible delay in the fall. He also suggested that the gas pilot light be left burning during the summer. ( He pointed out the small amount of heat from the pilot keeps the {furnace dry, thus protecting it from corrosion from basement moisture. Also, you can have heat anytime you want it on damp or cool days which occur occasionally even in summer. And on the first chilly fall day, just turn 1 up the thermostat and your ! house is soon warm.
