Consider State For A-Smasher INDIANAPOLIS UPI — Lt. Gov. Robert L. Rock said Tuesday he had heard that Indiana is among six states being considered as the site for a 1300 million Atomic Energy Commission acorn smasher. “It is my understanding that Indiana is one of six states being considered,“Rock said after a news conference. He said he did not know what the other five states are. Spokesmen in Governor Branigins office indicated such a statement was premature, however. They said 20 states have

Indicated they intend to seek the federal project and since the deadline is June 15, it would be unlikely that the field has been narrowed down. Rock said the facility would have an industrial development value for Indiana far beyond its cost. He expressed the hope that Branigins campaign to bring the facility to Indiana would be successful. It would attract considerable additional industry, Rock said.

Two Cons Had Brief Freedom PENDLETON UPI — Two teen-age convicts escaped from

an outside work detail at the Indiana Reformatory today but were caught two hours later after they broke into a house and stole a rifle. Samuel Dewey, 19. sentenced from Marion County to 1-10 years for entering to commit a felony, and Eddie Dunn. 18, sentenced from Ripley County to 2-5 years for burglary, slipped away while on a lawn mowing details. Officers caught them hiding in a wooded area about three miles southwest of the Institution. They said the men had thrown the sfdleir rifle into a creek before their capture.
