Stare Revenue Encouraging INDIANAPOLIS UPI — Indiana has taken in $20.8 million more in income taxes so far this year than at the same time In 1964, and the revenue from sales taxes is up $3.1 million. The encouraging figures reflect somewhat improved business conditions, according to Indiana revenue director William Fortune, but he said they also are due to better collection and greater compliance with the tax laws. “There is a better knowledge of the law and a greater feeling of being fair,” Fortune said. He said the tax system enacted by the 1963 Legislature has been functioning long enough to end most of the confusion about “what to collect and what not to collect.”

32, a Unit-

charges.
The government newspaper Izvestia alleged that the Los Angeles Negro "asked African students to gather intelligence information about our country,”
adding:
“Garnett tried to turn them into agents of American imperialism and buy their souls.” The newspaper charged that Garnett tried to encourage African students to “leave the Soviet Union and forget about the interests of their people.” Izvestia said that “nobody had any doubts that Garnett was an agent of American intelligence” during a previous tour of duty in Dar es Salaam in East Africa.” Garnett, according to Izvestia, “held wild parties in which he distributed American cigarettes, records, tape and simply
money.”
