Johnson Signs Viet Fund Bill WASHINGTON UPI —President Johnson today signs into law a $700 million vote of confidence from Congres for his administration's policy in Viet Nam. The Chief Executive planned to make a statement after signing the measure at a White House ceremony. Three Democrats cast the only dissenting votes Thursday when the Senate approved — 88 to 3 — the President’s emergency request for extra money to push the war in Viet Nam. There were ample warnings from others, however, that the congressional action should not be construed as a blank check for all-out ground war in the Far East.
The House approved the supplemental appropriations bill Wednesday on a 408 to 7 vote. Because the Senate made no changes it went directly to the White House.
Lassie Gets Award WASHINGTON UPI — Agriculture Secretary Orville L. Freeman Thursday gave Lassie a special award for “significant public service in forestry education.” He got a moist kiss in return. Freeman presented the award to the dog star and to actor Robert Bray, w r ho portrays Lassie’s forest ranger master in a television series. Rocket Test Is Huge Success CAPE KENNEDY UPI —The spectacular string of orbital maneuvers performed by an Air Force Titan-3A rocket Thursday cleared the way for the first flight teest next month of a Titan five times as powerful. Brig. Gen. Joseph S. Bleymaier, head of the development of the versatile military space booster, said Thursday night ; that the super Titan is now scheduled to make its flight debut on June 17. The giant rocket, called the Titan-3C, will use two 1.2-mil-lion pound thrust solid-fueled rockets strapped to the sides of a Titan-3A to loft its proposed Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) in 1968. Thursday’s Ti-tan-3A success gave a boost to the MOL program which still needs final Defense Department approval.

In Memory
In loving memory of Mother’s Day of our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary H. Kemper, who died six years ago. The month of May brings Mother’s Day And cherished memories too, With many happy thoughts Mother dear, of you. Tis then, our thoughts wander To childhoods memory lane, If we could only see her face And hear her voice again. As when she called us from the door It is supper time she said, We children all came quickly For mother's homemade bread. She was about the swellest cook Of anyone we know, She could make the nicest things From just a piece of dough. With baking, sewing, mending Through the busy years; To think of all she did for us Fills our eyes with tears. Death came to her six years ago, We won’t forget the day; It is with loving tribute We honor her today. Sadly missed by the family, H. W. Kemper, children and grandchildren.
