Two New Baseball Stadiums Will Be Sites For Action Tonight

By United Press International Atlanta gets a preview of major league baseball and the national pastime goes indoors at Houston tonight when two of the sport's newest stadiums are initiated on a big time scale. The Dixie flagwavers i n Georgia inaugurate a 51.377seat ball park that is only third to Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium and New York's Shea Stadium in National League size. Official National League play however, won’t start in Atlanta until 1966 when the Braves move out of Milwaukee to their Southern Domain. The Atlanta Crackers of the International League will make much use of this future “home of the Braves” this year. Houston’s domed stadium finally carries baseball into the weatherproof category. The airconditioned, 45.000-seat arena that is made of steel crossmembers at roof level and plastic skylights to allow for daytime baseball has enough cooling equipment to keep about 2.000 average homes

comfortable.

The Houston Astros take on the New York Yankees in the opener and then play a pair of

Only when lead Is present in glass can it be seen on X-ray a film. * • • Does the name Meniere’s disi ease apply to all kinds of dizziness? Absolutely not. Meniere’s disease is a Dr. Coleman relatively rare condition which has three major characteristics. Sudden attacks of violent and incapacitating dizziness, progressive loss of hearing, and consistent noise (tinnitus) are the threesome which suggest Meniere’s disease. For some unexplainable reason, many people seem to be terrified unnecessarily by the name “Meniere’s.” It does not mean a cancer. It does not mean an impending stroke. There are dozens of causes of dizziness, many of which are too readily incorrectly classified as Meniere’s disease. Even the descriptive term “dizziness” is confusing. Too often patients use it to describe a headache, eyestrain, upset stomach or migraine. * * * How are allergy tests made?

The most widely used test* for allergy are made on the surface of the skin. With the “Patch test,” a substance is applied to the skin, covered, and allowed to remain there for about 24 hours. Skin reactions like redness, swelling and itching are then “read” for the degree of sensitivity to an offending substance. More often, a minute quantity of a solution ia injected with a fine needle into the skin. At the site of injection, skin reactions are closely observed and read to determine the degree of sensitivity. Almost every conceivable sub-1 stance can be used for skin testing. • • • Is there mental deterioration with Parkinson’s disease? There is no relationship between the disease and intellectual capacity. One of the unfortunate aspects of Parkinson’s disease, besides the “pill-rolling” tremor, is the masklike expression of the face. This lack of facial expression sometimes gives the false impression of an associated mental disturbance.
