Editorial-Wise Why Trust The Reds? Why trust the Reds—Russian, Chinese, Viet Cong—or any of their satellites or announced allies ? Recent acts have clearly proved that the Reds, especially in North Viet Nam are certainly not thinking about peaceful co-existence. The bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Saigon resulting in the deaths of several innocent persons is todate the top outrage by the Viet Congs in a series of outrageous actions against the South Vietnamese and the United States. Russia and Red China are helping the North Viet Reds to wage the present military campaign despite all the talk of a wide split between the Soviet leaders and Premier Chou. It is a definite fact now that any verbal or written agreement with the Communists is not worth the time it takes to speak or the paper used for the writing. Remember, Communists never give up unless they are overwhelmed by sheer force which is all they respect.

The idea of caravaning halfway across the continent to come to grips—though fleetingly— with the problems of others isn’t a new one to DePauw’s Methodist Student Foundation. Previous seminars over the years have studied poverty in Chicago, the penal and mental health program of Indiana, economic and educational prostration in Appalachia, and the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. As one student seminar leader put it: “We see ourselves sitting at DePauw seldom confronted by life as it is in these places. It's awfully easy to hole up in college, be like a naive and sheltered middle-class kid.” “There is sutrermg—mental,
