Crash Cause Undeminded
WASHINGTON UPI — The Civil Aeronautics Board said today it had been unable to determine the cause of a fatal private plane crash at Colum-
bus, Ind., last Sept. 5.
Killed in the solo flight was the pilot, Dorsey D. King of Indianapolis. His plane nosed up suddenly immediately after takeoff, stalled and cigjfred. The CAB said it could not ascertain the reason for loss of control. It said all control rods and cables were normal and the 57-year-old pilot had 500 hours experience in this type of plane. Irish Parade In New York NEW YORK UPI — Famed Fifth Avenue turns green with Erie today for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade which transforms this metropolitan “melting pot" into Ireland-for-a day.
More than 100,000 Irishmen — it matters not if they be Irish by birth, descent or simply in spirit — were ready to march, jig and reel their way through the emerald green — bedecked heart of Manhattan in a four-hour wave of mirth and music. The weatherman said the festivities should be accompanied by a wee bit of chill but then a bit of Irish mist wouldn’t be inappropriate. Sixty battalions of marchers began assembling for the parade’s start at noon EST. Hundreds of thousands of spectators each year line the parade’s path from 44th Street
( t } I north to 86th Street along FtftS Avenue and then east oil 86th Street to First Avenue. Count* less others watch the annuel spectacle on television. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is one of New York’s favorite outdoor events. On this day everyone is an honorary Irishman and by nightfall the Blarney Stone will have been thoroughly polished by Erie’s sons-for-a-day.
Not :oo long ago, homemakers kneaded enough dough for aevcral day’s bread, let it rise overnight, and spent the better part of a day baking. Now, simple yeasfraised batter breads can be mixed in minutes, and rise in lew than an hour. And yeast breads are better than ever! This Minute Saver Casserole Bread includes yet another shortcut: dry milk solids arc added right with the flour, eliminating the steps of scalding and cooling regular milk. Four intriguing variations are suggested. MINUTE-SAVER CASSEROLE BREAD (Makes 1 round loaf) 2 cups warm water (MWMIST.) 2 packages qr cakes Fteischmann’s Yeast, active dry of compressed 3 tablespoons sugar 21/2 teaspoons salt 2 tablespoons Fleischmann’a Margarine, softened J /5 cup nonfat dry milk solids 41/2 cups unsifted flour Measure warm water into largt warm bowl. Sprinkle or crumble in Fleischmann’s Yeast. Stir omO dissolved. Stir in sugar, salt, Fleischmann’s Margarine, dry milk solids and half the flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Cover; let rise in warm place; free from draft, until more than doubled in bulk, about 40 minutes. Stir batter down. Beat vigorously about minute. Turn into greased li/rquan casserole. Bake in moderate oven (g75*F.) about 45 minutes, or until done. Variations: With second addition at flour, add 1 teaspoon celery seed; or % cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese; or 2 teaspoons caraway seeds; or % cup seedless raisins.
