Greencastle Cloverdale Reelsville Fillmore Sectional Winners Favored Greencastle, came out of their first game in the blizzard delayed sectionals Saturday by downing low-ranked Russellville, 98-67. The Cubs pulled into an early game lead, 31-14, into the second eight min-
utes.
The Russellville Bees, led by sharpshooter Ronnie Richardson almost pulled off a rally in mid game, but the Cub ball hawks pushed in the stopper. Greencastle fans were calling for a hundred points long before a Greencastle player fouled into Ronnie Richardson's two-point play. Richardson grabbed the rebound and shot a split second before the buzzer sounded tallying the last two points of the ball game. The Cubs outshot the Bees from the floor 41 to 18 but fell by the wayside when Russellville converted 31 of 38 free throw attempts to Greencastle’s 16 of 21. Ronnie Richardson led the scoring with 33 points followed by Jerry Boiler who hit 12 of 16 free throws and a field goal for 14 points. Five men scored in double figures for Greencastle as Gerald York hit for 20 points, Mike Troyer, 19, Stan Hurst 14, Ron Blotch 15, and Jim Chadd 12. Bainbridge fell to Cloverdale for the third time in the season 95 to 81. Bainbridge stayed with the Clovers until the second quarter when a rally pulled the county champs to as much as twelve points out in the second quarter. Bainbridge’s efforts, strong as they were, couldn’t overtake the Clovers for the remainder of the game. The two teams were evenly matched in the opening eight minutes and when the Pointers hit the cold spot in the second quarter, they couldn’t score enough to cut the
lead.
Bainbridge outscored Cloverdale from the charity stripe but the difference was made up in the field goal column. Cloverdale hit 37 of 82 attempts and Bainbridge capitalized on 27 of 61. Five men from each team scored in double figures as Roy Sandy, Rod Hervey, John Truax, Rob Jones, and Dick Stallcup hit 36, 15, 12, 11 and 11. Larry Steele led off the Bainbridge scoring with 21 points followed by Dick McFarland, Bill Judy, Ron Rossok, and Larry Canada with 17, 14, ■»3, and 12 respectively. Belle Union’s Wayne Bright almost pulled off a single-hand-ed upset but ran out of time when he rallied his team in the third quarter against Fillmore. The Pride of Belle Union tipped in 46 points, to lead all scoring in the sectionals thus far, scoring more than half the combined Belle Union total. It wasn't good enough and Fillmore bought a ticket to the semifinals tonight, 77-71. Fillmore’s long passes downcourt and fast breaks ran up a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and almost left the Panthers in the dust, 41-30 into the half. Belle Union put on a press early in the second half and started the rally. Fillmore had been pressing most of the game and kept it up during most of the play. The Panthers took the lead for the first and last

Celtics Are Old Hands At Winning By United Press International The Boston Celtics are old hands at winning, but this season they may even surpass themselves. The Celtics, who clinched their 9th straight Eastern Division crown in the National Basketball Association last Friday night, are well in range of completing their finest campain ever. Boston whipped the St. Louis Hawks 108-102 at St. Louis Sunday to boost its record to 75-13. Thus the Celtics need to win just four of their remaining 10 games to better their previous season higii of 60 victories in 1961-62. Tom Heinson scored nine of his 23 points in the final period as Boston beat the Hawks for the ninth time in 10 games this season. Chico Vaughn had 25 points fo rSt. Louis, which was handicapped by the absence of Cliff Hagan, John Barnhill and Mike Farmer.
