SENATE DISTRICTS prescribed in S.B. 341, as ready for vote on passage in Senate. This apportionment of Senate, based solely on population, gives Marion County control of 8 seats instead of present 6; Lake County 6 seats instead of present 4; St. Joseph County 3 seats instead of 2; Allen County 3 seats instead of 2. This count is based on the practical assumption that when a small county is hooked onto a large county to form an extra seat, the large county will dominate. The six additional seats for the populous counties are obtained by further reducing Senate representation of other counties of the state. The 10 largest counties already control the House.

Baker Inquiry Nears An End WASHINGTON UPI — The long-running Bobby Baker inquiry appeared near an end today though Senate investigators still must hear from the FBI on one aspect of the case. Chairman B. Everett Jordan, D-N.C., of the Senate Rules Committee called another meeting of the panel for Tuesday. It was understood the session would be devoted to an FBI report the committee has requested but not yet received. The report deals with testimony given the committee in closed session by insurance agent Don B. Reynolds, one of the chief accusers in the affair. The committee asked the FBI to check into Reynolds’ allegations. What these particular allegations were has never been made public. President Johnson’s former top assistant told the committee Wednesday Reynolds bought advertising time on a Johnson-owned television station in hopes it would pay off with a big life insurance sale. Walter W. Jenkins, the former White House aide who resigned last fall after his arrest on a morals charge, made the statement in writing to the Senate Rules Committee. Reynolds testified last year that Jenkins—through Baker— persuaded him in 1957 to buy, $1,208 worth of advertising time he did not need on the Austin. Tex., television station owned by Johnson’s family. He bought it after writing a $100.000 life insurance policy on Johnson, who then was Senate majority leader. Jenkins said the whole thing was Reynolds’ idea because "he wanted very badly to sell the policies and desired to purchase advertising time to be competitive.”

Unlike other Paris fashion houses, they showed only to buyers at their original openings. The Yves St. Laurent collection, according to buyers who attended his opening Feb. 1, featured detachable seveneighth capes on coats, suits and

dresses. His coats were said to be slim and he apparently was not carried away by the general enthusiam for pleats. Edwardian jackets — with three buttons placed high — were said to be his favorites for

suits. The skirts that went with them were flared. Color favorites were reported then to be navy, red or fuschia, beige, lime and pistachio. The short-long evening hemline St. Laurent presented last season was said to have

collection. Gowns were above ankle length in front, curving into full floor length at the

back.

Indications were that Givenchy had no revolutions up his sleeve. His line was described as a continuation of the one he set for last season — rather wide and soft. For day-time he kept skirts knee-length. But for evening he

The Spanish-born Balenciaga closed the high fashion showings on a note of eleganct spiced with the spectacular. elegance for evening.

Senate To Vote On Amendments WASHINGTON UPI — The Senate today votes on a series of amendments to the administration proposal to increase U. S. contributions to the Inter • American Development ! Bank. The bank provides low-cost loans to busines and projects in Latin America. The measure, j already approved by the House, would authorize an increase of J $750 million in contributions over three years. The Senate disposed of two amendments Wednesday, but faces an amendment by Sen. Wayne L. Morse, D-Ore., today. Morse predicted it would be two or three days before a final note on the proposal itself. Under Morse's amendment the U. S. representative on the bank would be forced to use his voting power to block any loan for a project in a Latin American nation which has seized American property without just compensation.
