Only Ranger 8 and Its prede- i cessor, Ranger 7, sent back television photographs* of the lunar surface. Ranger 7 transmitted 4,000 photographs last July 81. Black Muslim Leader Is Slain NEW YORK UPI — Police tbday blamed Malcom X’s mdrtal enemies in the Black Muslim movement for the a«sasaination of the venomous Negro nationalist and said at least five persons may have participated in the Harlem meeting hall shooting. Early today, dectivies booked on homicide charges a 22-year-old Negro whom they said was one of the triggermen who filled an auditorium with volleys of gunfire Sunday as Malcom X r o s e to address 500 members of his own black supremacist followers. Malcom, a defector from the Muslims, died in the hall of shotgun and pistol fire before the horrified eyes of the onlookers and his hysterically screaming wife and one or more of his four daughters. The murder suspect, originally identified as Thomas Hagan, was in turn wounded by one of
Malcom’s aides and was severely beaten by the crowd be- ; fore police rescued him and another man the frenzied Negroes were attacking with shouts of “kill him. kill him.” Police described Hagan as a “tight-lipped suspect” who would tell them nothing — Including whether he had any connection with the Muslims or another extremist group. An I FBI fingerprint check identified Hagan as a man who had been arrested in Passaic, N. J., in November, 1963, for possession of stolen property. He then used the name of Talmadge Haver and gav“ his address ^s 347 Marshal! Street Paterson,
