The Legislature INDIANAPOLIS UPI—Politics in Indiana is a conglomeration of senseless ingratitude and the setting up of sacrificial lambs without rhyme or reason. J. Manfred Core, as Democratic state chairman, led his party to its greatest victory since the days of Franklin D. Roosevelt, only to be dumped out of office by Gordon St. Angelo, campaign manager for Governor Branigin. Former Gov. Metthew E. Welsh took the heat for President Johnson by running as a stand-in for him against Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace without a well-merited office of a high government post in Washington to date. Robert N. Stewart, as GOP state chairman, conducted as good a campaign as his limited finances permitted, only to face an ouster movement headed by H. Dale Brown, Marion County chairman, and Robert E. Gates. Columbia City, 4th District chairman. Brown Threatened Brown, in turn, is the target of an ouster movement in Marion County despite past victories he achieved. State Toll Road Had Big Year SOUTH BEND, Ind. UPI — Gross and net revenues for operation of the Indiana Toll Road reached all-time highs In 1964, an annual report issued by the State Toll Road Commission showed. Gross revenue was more than $17.2 million, net revenue more than $3.9 million. The report said more than 10.6 million vehicles traveled nearly 612 million miles.

Hendricks, who may be plotting a comeback, however. It's a rough life, and one often wonders why they keep on running for office.

German Stmaps FRANKFORT, Germany UPI — Trading stamps in West Germany are good only for money, but just before each payday a lot of them are redeemed in corner grocery stores. The idea of giving trading stamps which can be exchanged for merchandise hasn’t caught on in this country. But Germans do hold to the idea that they ought to get a discount for paying cash. About 25,000 grocery stores have formed a “Discount Savings Association,” and grant three per cent discounts in trading stamps on cash sales. Last year, the discounts amounted to 110 million marks ($27.5 million).

3 Dead After 'Snowball War' KNOXVILLE, Tenn. UPI — A third death was attributed Tuesday to a “snowball war” by students on motorists on a highway cutting through the University of Tennessee (UT) campus. A truck driver, suffering from a fractured skull after being struck by a hard snowball during the student frolic Monday afternoon, collapsed and died in a doctor’s office Tuesday. Earlier, a freshman student had been shot to death by a
truck driver angered by a deluge of snowballs, and a motorist had a fatal heart attack and wrecked his car after the vehicle was pelted with snow-
balls.
