Editorial-Wise As To Juvenile Delinquent In our opinion juvenile delinquency which has been more or less rampant in the past, has definately decreased in Greencastle and Putnam County. Over the years, as a reporter, we have "covered” numerous cases of juvenile delinquency for The Daily Banner. This has never been a pleasant assignment as we like boys and girls and hate to see them get into trouble. In many instances, the dilemma in which they found themselves was not always all their fault by any means. Broken homes, automobiles, and too much idle time on their hands, we believe are the three major factors that cause youngsters to slip by the wayside. Juvenile delinquency during the past two years has been handled most adroitly by Francis N. Hamilton, Judge of the Putnam Circuit Court; Mrs. Mildred Hervey, County Probation Officer; James Houck, County Prosecutor, and of course, all law enforcement officials. This youth delinquency has been a problem, especially for Judge Hamilton and Mrs. Hervey. We wish to commend them for the excellent work they have done in this category of court activities. Just one young person put on the right track is something to be proud of and gives you a good feeling. We know that Judge Hamilton and Mrs. Hervey have experienced this feeling on a number of occasions the last two years. Signals Still Not Right We called the local State Highway Department Office the other day to notify them that the "wait" and “walk” signals were not working properly on some of the downtown traffic lights. We were informed that this information would have to be relayed to the Crawfordsville State Highway Department in order to get the matter corrected. We are sure that this has been done by the local office but as yet, the signals are still not reacting as they should to the automatic electric device which controls them. This situation has been confusing to many pedestrians, especially older people. We noticed an elderly lady a day or two ago who actually didn't know just what to do. Perhaps, this incorrect operation will be cleared up before Spring and before someone gets hurt. A Little Bit Premature We understand that a well known Indiana political writer has made a prediction as to who will be the next governor of the state. To us. this seems a little premature as Governor Roger Branigin has just assumed the office of Hoosierland's Chief Executive. We believe that he should be given the chance to prove his qualities in the very important position of governor. At least, he was elected to serve a four year term. Perhaps in 1968 there will be time enough or better yet the appropriate time to begin thinking about just who may become governor in January of 1969.

I In memory of wife and mother, Mabel Williamson, who passed away one year ago today, January 15th, 1964. No morning dawns, no night returns, I But what we think of you : Those left behind are very dear, j But none replaces you: and Since you’re gone it’s not the same. The world is black and bare. We miss you everywhere we look And you just aren't there. We like to think when life is done Wherever heaven may be That you are standing at the door Up there to welcome us. Sadly missed by Clarel Williamson and family.
