Former Sooner Coach Considering I. U. Job

Miami, Fla. —Bud Wilkinson. the former Oklahoma football coach, has added fuel to the speculative fire that he may be interviewed for the vacant Indiana University job. The man who led the Sooners to national prominence and was beaten in November in a race for an Oklahoma senatorial post, says he will decide soon whether or not to return to coaching. He announced he will make his decision the next two or

three weeks. He has been rumored to have been contacted by I. U. officials. Wilkinson, in Miami for th Orange Bowl game yesterday. admits he has been approached about several coaching jobs — but he wouldn’t name the universities involved. “These contracts came from persons associated with the schools and I don't know how official they actually were,” he said. “But I may want to return to coaching — It's just a matter of time to decide.”

Rain Fails To Deter Golfers Playing under conditions that reminded one and all of the reasons for Noah's eternal Biblical fame, the first golf tournament of 1965 was held at Windy Hill Country Club, on New Year's Day. Ray Greve, chairman of the event, decided that winter rules would prevail with 10 a.m. tee off time. The following contestants were entered: Ray Greve, Dick Sunkel, Keith Lyon, Walter Cox, Paul Harris, Howard Harmless, Ron Terry, Lloyd Buis, Bob Thompson, Fred Huber, Maynard Shonkwiler, Ned Wood, Herschel Hammond, Bill Unsvvorth and John Tzouanakis. A large gallery viewed the tee offs from cars. John Tzouanakis played the match with one club, a 4 wood, and was voted the outstanding senior golfer of Putnam County. Bill Unsworth was even par and Herschel Hammond one over par. Golf activities for 1965 are being scheduled and an outstanding program is anticipated.

Opening lead — 3 West opened the three of hearts, and South won in dummy with the ace. He returned a diamond to win a finesse with the queen and then looked for a way to repeat the diamond

finesse.

Since the queen of spades was the only entry to dummy, South cashed his own high spade and then led the low spade to dummy’s queen. This established East’s jack of spades but did not help develop the diamonds. The second diamond finesse worked, but the king did not drop. South then had to give give East a diamond trick. Meanwhile, West discarded low hearts at every opportunity to show that he really had no interest in the suit. CASHES SPADE Upon being given the king of diamonds East cashed the jack of spades. Then he led a club, and West's three club tricks defeated the contract. South began correctly by taking the ace of hearts and trying the diamond finesse. Then he should continue with the ace of diamonds and lead the jack of diamonds to force out the king. Even if East returns a club, the defenders can get only three clubs and one diamond. South

The listing was based on voting by more than 2,000 fashion authorities and leaders all over the world. The ballot-counting committee noted that Queen Sirikit, 33-year-old mother of four, had dazzled Europe and America with her elegant apparel on recent global tours with her husband. She prefers native costumes of Thai silk alternating with Western clothes designed by Balmain of Paris. The committee also commended Mrs. Kennedy, who returned to the list after an absence of a year in recognition of her mourning, and her mother-in-law for “perfect taste in dress.” It said their decision not to wear deep mourning over a long period “reflected the same sense of discipline and contemporary dignity which the late President always displayed."
