Rich and Chocolate-ty Good

When it seems every drawer and window in your house sticks •nd squeaks, it’s time to lubricate these annoyances away at once.

A new dry, non-oily spray

lubricant that comes in three sizes will do the job simply and in record time. Called Elmer’s Slide-All, this new aerosol packaged lubricant is a Borden Chemical Company product. It will eliminate squeaks and end sticking of desk and table drawers, windows, and many other hard-to-lubricate areas. Because this fast-drying product will not stain clothing, it’s safe and effective on apparel or slip cover zippers. Try it, too, on traverse rods for draw drapes that only move

With much tugging.

The spray lubricant is a help just about everywhere in the house, including the basement, where it can be sprayed on tools and light machinery. It retards rust, repels dirt, dust, oil and water, and is non-flammable

and odorless;

To apply, shake the aerosol dispenser and spray a light film. Make sure the surface is clean and dry. If the object is stuck, work it back and forth, then re-spray. This versatile product is effective on all types of surfaces — metal, paint, wood, glass, rubber, leather

and fabrics*

The Sounds of Progress

Dennis Waters Fascinated by electricity and S entomology, two Vigo County 4-H Club members won the coveted award—a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, Nov. 29 to Dec. 3, according to the Cooperative Extension Service. Entomology award winner Nicky VanGilder, 18, of Farmersburg, is a freshman at Indiana University. She plans to major in journalism and minor in biology, leading to a degree in entomology. Miss VanGilder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray VanGilder, has a collection of 1,132 insects and 671 species. Her insect collection will be displayed in Indiana’s 4-H training center for educational purposes next year. Her favorite educational boxes are on metamorphosis, mimicry, natural insect controls and chemical insect controls. She said that she had collected insects until the snow flew, and in the spring she hunted the springtail found on mushrooms and other insects. For entomology identification, she won a trip to Washington, D.C., and New York City four years ago. Other entomology state awards consist of two blue ribbons, one purple ribbon, two reserve sweepstakes, grand sweepstakes besides the 1964

Nicky VanGildar state award. Entomology leader of her 4-H Club, she helped to plan the Vigo County entomology workshop. Her congress trip will be provided by Hercules Powder Company. Electric award winner Dennis Waters, 19, of 1118 Wood Lane, Terre Haute, won recognition this year for a radio he rebuilt from an unusable one from overseas. He added new parts and a stick-loop antenna, then made a new red wood cabinet and new grill-cloth front In 1963, young Waters made an arc welder from an old airplane generator and an old combine engine, which won a state blue ribbon. He also made an arc stabilizer. He has repaired many radios, television sets and electronic equipment with his father, Otis Waters, electrician assistant lead foreman at United States Penitentiary, who is a 4-H Club Electric leader. Last year young Waters won the 4-H Electric achievement trip to New York, Washington and Pittsburgh. He is electric leader of his club. He plans to enter Minnesota Bible College in Janrifiry. WestSnghouse Educational Foundation will be his host at the congress.

Three different desserts from one recipe. First make a Bosco Bavarian cream then take your choice from three ways to serve it. Layer it with cake or cookie crumbs in tall glasses for Parfaits, cut the center out of an angel food or chiffon cake and fill with the Bavarian, or turn the Bavarian into a pie. Whatever

your choice, it’s delicious. Bosco Bavarian Dessert

1 envelope unflavored gelatin Vz teaspoon vanilla or almond

% cup cold water 1 cup Bosco chocolate

flavored syrup

1 pint heavy cream

Sprinkle gelatin over cold water. Let soften 5 minutes. Bring Bosco to full boil in medium saucepan. Remove from heat. Add softened gelatin; stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Chill, stirring occasionally, until mixture is thick and syrupy. Do not let mixture become too stiff. Whip cream; gently fold into chilled chocolate mixture. Fold in flavoring. Pile into baked pastry shell, layer with crumbs for a parfait or fill an angel cake to make a

good, rich dessert. Chill until firm.

The Copper-Silver Rush of 1964

Echoing the great gold rushes of history, the copper-silver-gold rush to Timmins, in Ontario, Canada, started in April when news leaked out that a test drilling near the town had struck one of the largest copper and silver ore bodies ever found.

This “leak” was, however, no surprise to James H. Dillon, President and founding member of the Intercontinental Construction Men’s Association. He had been pioneering around Timmins

since 1958.

“Some people enjoy hunting,’* Jim Dillon says, “some enjoy fishing. I enjoy looking for minerals." Jim has 16 patented gold claims. A claim consists of 40 acres, and assays on these claims run from 0.94 ounces to 8 ounces of gold per ton of rock—gold is

worth $35 sn ounce. He also has 16 copper claims — copper is worth $55 a ton. What's more, Jim has 100 iron ore claims containing 100 million tons of iron ore. And pelletized iron ore sells for $35 a ton. Keeping tabs on this tidy treasure are 25 persons who form the nucleus of his recently formed public company,

Rollex Mines Ltd.

“On a trip to Canada around ’58,” Jim says, “I saw more iron ore than I had ever seen stockpiled in a steel mill, just laying there in the ground, not belonging to anybody or anything. People hadn’t claimed it becausa some individuals think that believing in your own eyes is too

easy, can't be true.”

Jim promptly posted as many claims as he could, recorded them properly with the Canadian Government. He took out as many more claims as possible each year since 1958. Now his foresight is paying off, and Jim is looking forward to the day when he can put up a plant to refine his con-

centrates.

He explains it this way; “There is no such plant up there now, and I would like to have a hand in this. It would create a thousand jobs, make me a thousand friends—and millions of dollars.*

The development of the loudspeaker made it possible to amplify Edison's sounds electronically. Since then, improvements have made sound reproduction so realistic that it’s called high fidelity. A further development—stereophonic sound—brings the listener right to the heart of the music. It employs the principle of sound from two sources. This gives added depth and dimension.

The tiny transistor is the latest word in home radiophonographs. It has already made the vacuum tube obsolete. Magnavox introduced the first radio-phonographs completely engineered with solid state circuitry—no vacuum tubes in either amplifier or tuner—in 1962. Solid state devices were originally developed for satellites, missiles and other military uses. Now Magnavox is using them to bring the best possible music reproduction into your home.

Canadian style bacon, that tender strip of cured and smoked pork loin, can become a specialty dish when given a sweet ’n spicy seasoning.
