FARM VALUE PER ACRE—Here are the average per acre farmland values In the various states, according to the Agriculture Department, which says values are up 35 per cent over the 1957-59 average. New Jersey, the Garden State, tops the list at $60e, and Wyoming is at the bottom at $26 per acre.

Wedges of fresh Western pears, perfect cheese dippers, are a refreshing change from traditionally heavy party foods. Choose from any of the three equally delightful varieties, Anjou, Bose

or Comice.

Fresh winter pears, though alike in appeal, are quite different in appearance. The Anjou is characteristically light green in color even when fully ripe and, as all pears, will yield to gentle pressure when ready for eating. The Bose is recognized hy its long tapering neck and russet color skin. The Comice pear is known as the “gift box pear”. It is heart shaped and often has a reddish blush on its greenish yellow skin. All varieties of fresh Western pears offer elegant eating when baked, broiled or munched out of hand. Next time you want an exciting appetizer, snack or dessert, serve pears with Dips.
