(The wife of one of the drivers involved in a two-car accident on Ind. 43, north of Greencastle, on Sunday, November 8, writes the following letter;)

Dear Sir,

I am writing you and asking that you make a correction of your November 9th report of the collision of two autos in which eight persons were hurt

or injured.

This accident involved the car of Glen L. Miller, R. No. 1, Andrews, Ind. He was the driver of the 1964 Rambler and he as well as myself was traveling toward Greencastle, Ind., on 43, so Miller was driving south on 43 in his own lane. Powers was traveling north in his car on 43 and he pulled out into Miller who was in his own lane coming south. Powers was attempting to pass a line of traffic or cars in his lane and he pulled to the left of the center of the road into Miller’s lane and Miller swerved to the right and was able to avoid Powers hitting him in the center of Miller’s car, he hit hardest on the driver's side of the car where Mr. Miller was sitting in the driver's seat and driving on the proper

Hence he can afford to lose three spade tricks— but not four. South can get what he wants by playing a low spade from dummy at the first trick. East gets a bargain, since he can win that first trick with the eight of spades, but then he can get only two other spade tricks. If East plays more spades, he will give two tricks to the dummy. If East shifts to diamonds at the second trick, South wins with the ace and tries the heart finesse. East can take his king

She will be in the hospital for approximately three weeks at the least.” The part that I am demanding that you retract is the part where you have Miller going the wrong direction and in the wrong lane, and the part where you have Powers going in the wrong direction and etc. I am going to give you ample time to make this retraction and correction and if you do not do so immediately I am going to contact my attorney and take legal action against your paper. Contact the police or whoever you must to get the correct information, but, don’t delay unless you wish me to take legal action against you. My husband, myself and family were within our legal rights and I am not taking this lying down. I did not pass out or become unconscious in the accident and I do have witnesses who saw this accident occur, so, let's get this sickening mess straightened out. I was feeling very well even with my face lacerations and banged up left leg. until I looked at your completely absurd and unfactual report of the accident and it made me sick at my stomach to think that a story could get so completely turned around. The whole staff and nurses were just marvelous to all of us at the hospital, and I felt welcome in your town and community until I read your jumbled up, unfactual report. In fact we were, and still are, considering purchasing property in your community so you don't need to think this is by any means the last time you will hear from me. My wonderful husband done everything he could to avoid Powers crashing into us, but, he just could not get off the road fast enough. He swerved to the right but had no time to get off his legal lane of highway. I am checking to see if you make a retraction in your immediate issues of your paper. Yours as an unfairly treated citizen of this United States of America and a taxpayer with certain legal rights and privileges, Sincerely, Ruth H. Miller

Thrilling flexibility of control and the sense of power of cycling on a lightweight bicycle promises to send the number of American bike riders soaring over the present record-breaking 55 million mark, according to The Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company, Nashville, Tennessee. Murray, the country’s largest manufacturer of bicycles and wheel goods, is introducing a new line of lightweight bikes this fall. The lightweights incorporate not only the continental styling so popular with young and old alike, but feature 3-speed twist-grip shift control and hand-operated caliper brakes. Bikes have meant fun to Americans for more than 100 years, but the lighter and more maneuverable bicycles have firmly established bikes as a mode of transportation on college campuses.

Add to that the number of adult* tipt hava turned to cycling and you have a robust boom within A boom. While physical fitness may bn written off by some as a pretext for adult cycling (some say that fun’s the real reason), there am definite health and muscle tone benefits. For instance, women (and men, too) find it fun to pedal away pounds—and the average person burns off more than 600 calonen in an hour of moderate pedaling. Or the executive can pump away tensions simply because th* stimulus of a 15-minute bike ridn can send 25 to 30 quarts of oxy-gen-enriched blood through th# arteries every single minute. Whether for fun or fitnesn, Americans are getting their kick# on the 3-speed lightweights as th# bike boom shifts into high gear.
