the United States will participate in. This is the second time Bainbridge has had the honor of competing in this national event which they won in 1962. Best of luck and we hope they return with their second win.

The high salesmen were: Patty Judy, first; Gracie Graver, second: Marilyn O'Hair, third; and Linda Coffman, fourth. They were given their choice of some very fine prizes. Although the sales campaign was a lot of work, it is a part of the Senior year that makes it complete.

Fortunately enough, West had to follow suit. Declarer won in dummy with the ace of clubs and ruffed a club. He next ershed the ace of hearts, ruffed a heart in dummy, ruffed another low club, and duffed his last low heart with dummy’s last trump. But now dumr - was reduced to three diamonds and a good club. Declarer couldn't cash the club because West still bad a trump. And if declarer led diamonds, he would have to give a diamond trick to West It was not a distinguished performance, and the only thing to be said fc r it is that West enjoyed it immensely. ONE TRICK AHEAD S-uth’s troubl' was that he got one trick ahead of himself. After winning the second club trick with dummy's ace South must not ’mmediately ruff a
club.
Instead, South takes the ace of hearts and ruffs a heart. Then he runs a low club. He uffs his other low' heart with dummy’s last trump and returns to his hand by ruffing another low club. This sets up dummy’s last club and puts South in his own hand —where he wants to be. He draws the last trump, discarding a diamond from dummy and c _hes the king of hearts to dis-! card another diamond. Then dumy wins the last two tricks ; with the ace of diamonds and the good club. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
To the Editor: I don’t approve of the mudslinging from either Party. What has become of reason in politics. Where have analysis and synthesis hidden? What has become of the thoughtful study and the weighed decision? If we really believe that the 1964 election issues are merely peace or war. social security or the absence of it, then we are well on the way to intellectual senility. “Peace and Prosperity” just until after election day is a poor promise for all of us. I fail to see the wonderful prosperity that L.B.J. speaks of constantly. I have less income each year as I am a small farmer. I have to pay a much higher rate of federal and other taxes which has taken away from me most of the savings that I had and needed. I don’t accept any handouts from the government officials because I know it is wrong. I don’t like being overtaxed to help pay for the “handouts" for the greedy ones. It isn’t fair. This dreadful disease called
“Greed” is sweeping the nation and it will bankrupt everyone in time. Let’s demand that the ones running this country quit w'ast** ing the taxpayers’ hard earned dollars, work more and do less politicking. I think it is time to turn back to God and pray that He will help us choose the right man to run this great country ot ours. H. O. K.
