NOTICE WATER CONSUMERS This Department has just completed an overhaul and maintenance project for the summer. This work is consistent with good engineering practice, and is designed to give you the best possible service. The following projects have been completed.

1. Overhaul high service pumps and motors. 2. Overhaul all well pump motors. 3. Sterilize all wells and high service cistern. 4. Drain, power scrape, brush, sterilize and paint interior and exterior of stand pipe on Arlington Street, and elevated tower in Robe Ann Park.. 5. Overhaul and paint all fire hydrants. S. Flush entire distribution system. It was felt that the above work could cause some rusty water at some locations; therefore, it was necessary to ask our patrons to follow a schedule for washing during this period. Now that this work has been completed, it will not be necessary to follow this schedule. Thank you, DEPARTMENT OF WATER WORKS

Joint Study

WASHINGTON UPI — Six federal agencies are studying whether a satellite system is needed for air-sea navigation, traffic control, and air-sea search and rescue operations. The National Aeronautics and space Administration (NS A) said Sunday it was joining the Federal Aviation Agency, and Commerce Defense, Interior and Treasury departments in the study.

Bayless Is Head Of Young GOP

Thomas Bayless. 26 years old farmer of R. R. 7, Crawfordsville, was appointed chairman of the Sixth District Young Republican Organization, it was announced today by Buena Chaney, Sixth District Chairman of the Senior Republican Organization. In making the appointment it was stated that Bayless succeeded Alonzo Deckard of Plainfield, who recently resigned because of the press of

his law practice in Indianapolis. It was also announced that Alice Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the Sixth District Senior Republican Organization has appointed Mrs. Warren (Dorothy) Harlan of Greencastle as Vice Chairman of the Sixth District Young Republican Organzation to serve with Bayless.

Strike Staged By School Teachers PAWTUCKET, R. I. UPI — j About half of this city’s 500 public school teachers went on strike today in support of demands for a salary increase. The striking teachers were members of the Pawtucket Teachers Alliance. They voted to walk out after a meeting behind closed doors. Schools were shut down after one-hour of classes. About teachers reported for work. There are approximately 11,500 elementary and high school students in the city. Alfred A. Dalton, acting ..chool committee chairman, said the Alliance asked for a new pay scale of $7,300 fter 10 yers service nd $7,500 after 25 years. He said that under a pay scale that became effective Sept. 9th teachers now receive $7,100 after 10 years, 57.200 after 20 years and $7,400 after 30 years.
