LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
To The Editor: It has been the policy of most newspapers to state which candidate they are supporting. Most of the leading newspapers have supported the Republican party. But more and more this year the newspapers are supporting L.B.J. The Kansas City Star is backing L.B.J. and this is the first Demicrat they have supported since 1892. Here are a few statistics in accordance with the latest Gallup Poll: Question: “Who do you support? Johnson or Goldwater?” Business and Professional Men. Doctors. Lawyers, Engineers, Businessmen, L B.J. SSTi: Goldwater 36%; Undecided 6%. White Collar Workers. L B.J. 62' f: Goldwater 28' c; undecided 10%. Manual Laborers, L.B.J. 72%; Goldwater 22%: undecided 6%. Farmers. L.B.J. 62%; Goldwater 33%; undecided 5%. (Reprinted Indianapolis Star. Aug. 30, 1964 i There must be a reason for these Republicans to support
L.B.J. You've got to admit that L.B.J. does have the qualifications we like to see in the man leading our great country. “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” A realist who believes in world peace. And don t forget, it hasn't been very long ago that us taxpayers got a tax cut. Several presidents have promised us a tax cut, but L.B.J. was the first who got it for us and don’t you forget i^ ^ No man in his right mind would trade a bird in the hand for two promised to be in the bush. L.B.J. predicts he will get three out of every ten Republican votes. Let's not let rim down. Oh yes. a word to you Democrats. The paper recently said that in 1960 18% of the Democrats who were registered did not vote. Get up off of it and go register and vote. I think this paper is big enough to have an Editorial Section. Let us hear your views! Who does this paper support ? R E B.

TO YOU -feed a cold and Starve a fever”? Colds are infections that deprive the body of its normal energy. Is ft true that a seven-month premature baby is healthier than an eight-month “preemie” ? This not true. This is an old and completely unsubstantiated
myth.
The longer time the premature infant has to develop in the womb of the mother, the better are its chances for good
health.
It is interesting to note that the modem definition of a premature baby includes not only its actual gestation time, but also its birth weight. Children bom even at full nine-month period are considered “premature” if their birth weight is bflow 5 lbs. That is why such children are sometimes kept in the hospital for a longer period, for their added safety. Does aspirin cause heart

We couldn’t make Comet much tougher, so we made it more beautiful. Made the outside sleeker, sportier—from every angle. Made the interiors more luxurious. Made every engine bigger, from the 200 cu.-in. “6” through the hefty new 289 cu.-in. Cyclone Super V-8 (225 hp). Made the ride even smoother, more solid and silent. The one thing not new in this racy '65 sequel is the stamina that made Comet the World's Durability Champion. You wouldn't want that to change, would you? It didn’t.
