Set Discussions In Baker Case WASHINGTON UPI — Senate investigators hoped to begin preliminary discussions today on charges C at a $25,000 kick-back was tunneled to the 1960 Kennedy-Johnson campaign through Bobby Baker. Special counsel Lennox P. McLendon said there would be "some discussion of the prelim inaries.” But he predicted the committee would not reach any formal decision on the new investigation. The latest charges against Baker, former secretary to Senate Democrats, were made two I weeks ago by Sen. John J. Wil* | hams, R-Del. Williams alleged that Matthew H. McCloskey, former ambas ador to Ireland and onetime Democratic Finance Committee chairman, made a $35,000 “payoff” after receiving the construction contract on the Washington, D.C. Stadium. The Delaware senator claimed that the money was hidden in a $109,205.60 check to insur-1 anee agent Don B. Reynolds to cover the premium on the performance bond for the stadium. The performance bond itself was listed at $73,631.28. Williams charged that Reyv nolds kept $10,000 and then channeled $25,000 to Baker for use in the 1960 presidential campaign. Several days after Williams made his charge, the Senate voted to re-open the Baker investigation and directed the Rules Committee to look into the allegations.
