A United States con°Tessional space expert said, however, that the reports to the congress, now in its third day, show that the United States leads the Russians in the space race. Rep. George Miller. D-Calif.. chairman of the House Science and Astronautics Committee, said that U.S. weather satellites and the Ranger 7 moon shot “will make some other people realize we’re pretty well ahead in the game and maybe they’ll quit fooling as they have in the past.” Asked if the “other people" referred to the Soviets, Miller said “there are only two nations in this business at this time”—the United States and the Soviet Union.
