Steel Production Reaches New High BLOOMINGTON UPI—Steel production reached its highest I level in seven years as the Indiana economy continued its up- j ward movement through June, the Indiana University Bureau of Business Research reported today. The bureau said steel production jumped 8.9 per cent in May over April and another 1.4 per cent in June, increasing employment in that industry by 2,400 in one month alone and moving it within 2.000 of the record high of 67,500 in mid 1959. Weekly earnings for steel- j workers of $141.88 continued to; be the highest of any in the manufacturing sector of the state economy. The major weak spot in the economy was in employment.
