Cloverdale Man Receives Award Mr. Thomas Crafton, R.F.D. Cloverdale, Indiana, has been presented a Show and Pig Management award by the Moorman Manufacturing Company. The award is being made to hog i raisers whose sows wean larger than average litters. Mr. Crafton received a simulated oak plaque, showing a sow with pigs nursing, which is a re- ; production of an original handcarving done especially for this award. A brass plate on the I plaque is engraved with his j name. In making the award, the ; Moorman Company pointed out that a hog raiser’s care and management of sows is vitally important, along with good breeding and feeding, for efficient pork-producing results.
Senator Died Of Brain Tumor WASHINGTON UPI — Sen. I Claire Engle died Thursday ! from a brain tumor that over the past year had turned him into a crippled and pathetic | shadow^ of the man once known j as “ congressman fireball.” The California Democrat was 52. There was immediate speculation that Pierre Salinger, former White House Press Secretary and Democratic nominee for Engle's seat, would be named to serve out the remainder of Engle's Senate ; term. This w-ould enable Salinger to campaign as an incumbent, and give him a considerable advantage in the Novem- ! ber election.
